How to Ski Tour | Long version | Tutorial | DYNAFIT

Schorsch Nickaes, DYNAFIT Product Director and Mountain Guide shows how to start ski touring. He gives informations about the basic equipment, tips for your first ski tour and demonstrates the preparation for the uphill and the downhill performance.

Basic gear includes ski touring skis, ski toouring bindings, and skins for the uphill. Besides you need ski touing boots, poles and snow safety equipmnet. Especially for backcountry tours shovel, probe and avalanche beacon are essential. Also you have to carry a helmet for the down.

Every ski tour starts with the uphill. Before you start you have to prepare your gear, therefore follow further steps:
// Step 1: Fix the skins on the skis.
// Step 2: Switch the bindings from downhill mode into uphill mode.
// Step 3: Adjust your ski touring boots in uphill mode.
// Step 4: Setup the poles acorrding to your body length.
// Step 5: Step in the bindings and block them.

After you have reached the summit it is important to prepare your gear for the downhill:
// Step 1: Step out of the bindings and turn the bindings from uphill mode into downhill mode.
// Step 2: You have to pull the skins of the skis.
// Step 3: Fix the bucles of your ski boot and lock them into downhill mode.
// Step 4: Step in your bindings.
// Step 5: Put on your helmet.
After following the steps, you are ready for downhill.

Thanks, great video but I thought ski touring was like hiking but in the snow with skis? This seems like a big hassle everytime you need to go up and down a slope. I'm really confused about all the different types of cross country skiing. Could you please tell me what the type of skiing is that I'm after?
