Personal Shopper Says He Was Falsely Accused of Stealing

An Illinois man says a viral video of him at the self-checkout at Walmart has ruined his reputation. Bill Astle does appear to be putting all these items directly into his bag without scanning any of them. However, the 49-year-old man says he is not a thief. Turns out, Astle is a personal shopper. To save time, he used the Walmart app to scan each item on his phone as he took them off the shelves. Then, when he got to the checkout, he just needed to scan his phone for the entire purchase.

I (Walmart cashier) actually had a customer that saw someone do exactly what he did. Thankfully instead of assuming anything the lady asked me about what he was doing and I just told her "oh he's one of our spark drivers. They're like personal shoppers and delivery drivers"
Takes all of 2 seconds to ask an employee what's going on.

Imagine recording a random stranger and then posting the video to the internet. If she thought something was wrong she should’ve told an employee..

After recording, did she report to Store/Security? nope she didn't because if she did, she would've been told that he's not actually stealing.
Instead, she upload straight to her social, because that's all she cared. she doesn't care about stopping shop lifting, she just cares about going viral.

1. Report the "stealing" to an associate.
2. Include him scanning his phone in the video.
