Loved this performance - and she has real focus and her artistry and skating skills have grown. Everyone was writing her off - she is 3 times and reigning Russian champion and the World champion! Truly exceptional. If she would just turn out her foot on her spins, she would be glorious. That issue causes her to hit positions that are not always pleasing to look at. Also, she’s flexible enough so she should be doing spirals without having to hold up her leg. I am also curious as to why this performance didn’t receive a standing ovation because it was pretty much perfect.

Many believe Valieva or Trusova will win the Olympics. I’m not so sure about that. Trusova, so far, has not performed well under even minimal pressure. Scherbakhova has SEVERAL quads, and has experience WINNING SEVERAL times at the Russian national championships, pretty much the most difficult competition in the world right now. Valieva may be a challenge, but Scherbakhova pretty much has nerves of steel. And on Olympic night, I’m convinced it’s 80% psychological.

Just to say: I noticed here in comments one commentator-hater, who writes slander about Anna's performances and who represent herself under the name of a former rowing athlete from Germany. Even if the name is not made up, this lady did not have significant achievements in her past, according to the information on the internet. Yet what an ego she has in this case to present herself here as an expert in figure skating! Yesterday I was listening to a program about judges in figure skating: there it was explained that in order to become a judge you have to go through many stages. First of all, only those who were doing figure skating in the past get to be a judge; secondly, they go through a long phases of volunteering on refereeing teams - first, they study and learn the theory and practice of judging; then they take exams - usually in one discipline, then they start judging at some minor domestic competitions, then international competitions, but not major ones; and only then they become judges of international level. So this commentator here, hiding under the name of a former rowing athlete, takes a lot on herself, pretending to be an expert in the nuances of women's singles skating technique. She is, without a doubt, a hater! Just ignore her and her supporters' comments! According to the experts, Ana's score list was clean, with no signs from the judges about underrotations... Full stop! Let all fans-haters be bursting with anger now and bite their elbows.

Never. Count. Her. Out! I think of all the Eteri girls she has the strongest mental game. There's a reason why she's 3x Russian champ and a World champion despite other skaters maybe having more difficult content or better skating skills and artistry.

I have the feeling that the team has many talented girls to take care, so they do not pay attention enough to build her program. I remember that her coach once time said that she is the one who enthusiated to skating the most among the three A. And she was the only one that chose to stay when others left. Hope that she can earn what she deserves. Not hate to the others but just want to see smile in face of this girl again <3
