He's already been 19.92 in the outdoor, and it's safe to say he's a good tenth of a second faster now. Now, if he could continue building his strength, I think he's got a sub 44 quarter mile and a good chance of making the US team on the 4x400.

Notice there is always a certain amount of humbleness and mindfulness when this kid is interviewed. He is very cognizant of all the attention he has gotten since high school. He fully realizes that there are many people who resentful of the attention and want to see him fail. They love to pick on everything he does and are ready to critique every race or event he enters. He does not give anyone ammunition for any of this. Great kid with a great attitude. Very smart. He knows he has to keep a lower profile. He has, up to a point, defied the stereotype. If he was in the UK, Germany or Australia for example he would not get this backlash.

Can't understand why people hate on this guy. All he's done is represent his sport well with nothing but class and dignity, and no self-aggrandizing.

Tons of people praying in this young man’s downfall in the comment sections of many videos on him. As a dude from NYC, I’m rooting for him. Underdog stories are great for sports.

0:40 - "Glorifying God and having a good race" - The media so quick to ignore what make's a man great, BUT I say, DON'T EVER CHANGE your stance with God MATTHEW! The world rejects God, but you stay the course no matter what may come.

What’s crazy is that this indoor time would have taken 6th place at the Tokyo Olympics. Outdoor.. 😮
