I could see this working perfectly in say Tokyo (where the residents are shall we say civilized...) but USA? these would get vandalized left and right in cities like Chicago, NYC, LA.

What's going to happen when someone blocks the road? What happens in high traffic downtown areas? What happens if a 3 year old runs out into the street? Will the thing stop? What happens if someone tips the device over? There's so many things that can happen.
