you are saying that it's just a faded standard, but neglecting the fact that it also has a AAA top, and the pickups. Go look at the ES line. The price difference is about $600 between the AA and AAA (figured top). That AAA top is nicer than the top on the actual greeny guitar... lol. But let's be honest though, you're buying the out of phase humbuckers when you buy this guitar. I keep hearing people say that it's a gimmick, but I'd honestly rather have the pickups in this guitar than the relic(ed) guitar... Especially at $19K or $50K... To me, the idea of a relic guitar is kind of corny... You may as well get out you candy cigarettes and say you are the Marlboro man... This guitar looks amazing, its not your garden variety Les Paul, and those pick ups are more than a novelty...

I rewired mine for 50s wiring, changed to bumblebee caps (not sure that really made a difference) and polished the headstock and body to give it a little shine and it’s a lot more inviting to play. The satin finish is better than on epiphones but I felt it needed a little shine. Now the flame really stands out.

I've yet to see someone playing some Greeny blues on this guitar.

This guitar has really divided opinions, for me, i love mine, it looks superb, has a great AAA top and certainly can't complain about the sound, especially through a Victory V40D. I agree with you that Gibson should have included something in the case as a nod towards Peter, Gary and Kirk, it's really only Peter and Gary that have the history with Greeny, but thanks to Kirk it is once again in the public eye and being used. This is a Greeny inspired Les Paul, Gibson could have gone a little further and made it a more rounded and valued package, but at the end of the day, this is KIrk Hammett Greeny Standard Les Paul, anything else isn't.

Nice video and good demonstration. I actually do like the middle position (out of phase) with a clean amp, for some things, but it is definitely a special sound and not for everyday, I suppose.

How heavy is that guitar you have there?

Terrific review! Congrats What signal chain are you playing through? That would be helpful?

It’s a very nice guitar but I’ve modded my Epiphone Honeyburst AAA Plus top Pro. to look much the same, for 1/10th of the price (and it sounds good too!). If I wanted an even more authentic sound, I’d swap the stock Probuckers for a set of Alan Dingwall’s but I’m no Peter Green or Gary Moore ;) The mismatched knobs were down to Gary - that’s often overlooked in the reviews. Fair conclusion on the vfm question though, imho :)

Now we just need Marty Friedman to buy Paul Kossoff’s Les Paul so it can (be named… Kossy? and/or) have a Gibson series of reissues including a $50k ver. w/case that reads:

Kossoff
Ramm
Friedman

All legit in their own rite. It isn’t out of phase but it does sound even better than Greeny.

The bridge isn't really an ABR 1. It's still a Nashville tunomatic .

These guitars have higher grade flame tops compared to the faded 50s and are much nicer tops over all the finish is different as well it's a dirty lemon fade . The regular faded models are much more pale and. They are a very pale plain lemon burst..

The greeny buckers are a bit overwound . They are what you would call vintage hot . They are in the Bursrbucker 2 and 3 gibson Slash bucker duncan whole lotta humbucker output levels and they are hotter then custombuckers and duncan swth lovers .

Looks similar to my recent 50s faded honey burst. Cheaper as well.

I do love the Standard 50's faded for sure and wish the Standard 60's faded came in Honeyburst as well. I do think the top you get on the Greeny Standard is a lot nicer, the Standard 50's faded is more of a plain top to possibly a AA if you get lucky. Paying a premium for a AAA and like you say, a few more changes, Hmmmm... not really worth the $700 I am thinking, but that guitar you're playing is definitely gorgeous and sounds great.

I tried one of these at my local shop and while I liked how it played, I totally agree with your assessment. This is a premium priced faded 50's Standard. You get nothing with it beyond the standard baby picture. Satin finishes just cry out bargain/budget model. To me, visually in person, the satin finish really takes away from the triple A top. No disrespect to Greenie fans at all (I get the history for sure), but IMO this is just another cash grab by Gibson - premium price for a standard satin finished Les Paul. No COA, no special case, no special truss rod cover, satin finish, not a "Limited Edition" - Premium Price! 😒

As iconic as the original might be - this is just a LP Standard with the neck pickup turned around... Ten a penny, if LP Standards weren't so expensive 🤣🤣🤣

The only Gibby LP that, to me, stands out from decades of seeing that same lump of wood, is the Alex Lifeson signature - by Epiphone. Marvelous!

What amp are you running in this video?

It's just a flame top LP, with an electrical error.
