both the inside flesh and the rind is edible. Here in India the rind is sun dried and can be stored for months in an air tight container. Mainly in South India it is used in almost every curry, especially fish curries as a souring agent. the same goes for mangosteen. WE use the inside flesh and the rind both for cooking and to make soups and juices. The rind of a mangosteen is paced with antioxidants and in some Ayurvedic practices is used even to cure cancer,

You have got to be the first person to ever review the flesh of this fruit!!! :)

It's amazing how the picture on many of the Garcinia Cambogia weight loss supplements are wrong. They'll slap pictures of Mangosteen. I'm pretty sure very few people actually know what GC looks like.

The outside rind is sliced and sun dried...can be kept in airtight container...will last long used in curry, rendang, asam pedas and many more Malaysian cooking.

You should review the dried fruit. It is left for dry for a few days and becomes hard and black.

usually we sliced it and dried it under sun. we can keep it for a year and used it as sour flavour in our cuisine like curry. in my place we call it buah gelugur. we also use the leaves as vegetable.

Looks like you will have more Garcinias to review in South America. Madruno(G. madruno), bacuri(Platonia insignis-same family), and bakupari/guapomo(G. gardneriana) are all in there. Maybe lots of Achacha too in Bolivia since that is where it originated. As always, great review despite those mosquitoes.

they grow on 😯😳🤯 haha i mean sure why not, it's fruit, idk i was surprised for some reason. i don't often just see fruit on trees here tho, unless it's nasty fruit nobody wants like crabapples.
if good fruit were available (here in the US) on trees and not walled in on private orchards i feel like everyone would just steal it all 😕

Have you tried fruits like Salak, Jering, Petai, Pulasan, Duku, Ciku, Mata Kucing and Pala while in Malaysia? Not sure Petai is a fruit but it does has a super strong smell and taste. You don't want to smell your farts once you ate petai, blegh.
