How To Build A Oxygen Farm! No Man's Sky 4.0 Waypoint 2022

Oxygen is a very rare resource in No Man's Sky 4.0 so this guide will show you how to make your own Oxygen farm! There are a ton of items that use oxygen so it is always a benefit to have it. You can also make a ton of money fast with an oxygen farm as well! No Man's Sky 4.0 made it more difficult to find oxygen, but you can just make your own!

My PC Specs:
Intel Core i9-10900K
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080
64GB G.Skill Ram
Samsung 970 EVO Plus 2TB

Oxygen farms became waaay more important in the 4.0 update for No Man's Sky. You can't find oxygen normally in shops, and it is more rare to find in the wild. So make your own and get ahead in No Man's Sky!

The video starts at 1:41, following a paid ad for a crappy video game.

Just another tip, find an airless or dead planet. It will still have gas nodes but the only ones it has are oxygen. Their low gravity also makes it pretty easy to cover a lot of ground on foot if you're hunting an S-class node.

You're MUCH better off stacking the extractors. The center of the hotspot, the part where it's most concentrated, is like a cylinder going all the way up. Same with mineral extractors. Stack them on top of one another to get maximum extraction.

One HUGE tip that will easily increase your output 10x on a farm this size, with ZERO additional resources spent.

NMS has diminishing returns on all extractors. Meaning, after you get more than 4 extractors linked together, adding a 5th will reduce them all to, say, 85% efficiency, 6th, now they're down to say 75%, and you very quickly get to where each additional extractor only yields you, say, 1-2% more yields per hour. Very poor.

You can get around this simply by not having more than 4 extractors linked to the same pipes. So, for each squad of 4 extractors, have a little section of supply depos right next to them. It doesn't matter how close/far these are to other extractors/depos, as long as there aren't pipes connecting them together. Just make sure that you never have more than 4 extractors connected to each other via a pipe.

If you think about it, you can see how extreme this production nerf is in this video. He was getting about 250/hour per extractor when he had 10 extractors. Simple maths means, at the very beginning of the build, he ALREADY was going to get 2, 500 oxygen an hour with just 10 extractors. But the second he linked them all together, the production tanked. Then cut to the END of the build where he has, like, 30-40 extractors, and yet he's still only getting 1, 900 oxygen per hour.

If Jason were just to redo the piping, connecting each chunk of extractors in groups of 4, and then to their own little chunk of silos, his production SHOULD be something like *8, 500* oxygen per hour. And again, this is with ZERO additional resources spent.

Top tips:

1) When transmitting power a long distance, make joins in your power cable with a light box. You can then see where your power is when building.
2) Join Pipelines with Supply Depots. Distributed storage, and easy place to join piplines.

Holy shit you take so long to just say a few steps.
1. Get Survey upgrade blueprint for multi tool from the Anomaly.
2. Also get gas extractor and supply depot blueprints from Anomaly.
3. Use the survey upgrade with multitool on a planet surface, try to find a good Oxygen hotspot.
4. Build a base near oxygen spot.
5. Place extractor and supply depot at the oxygen spot center.
You are now farming oxygen.

I love the way you make it all clear for new players, How and why you do this and that. A long time ago when u was new to the game you helped me a lot and i’ve got to thank you for that. Keep up the good work!

I love my oxygen farm. But things always disappear from the freighter refiners. I cant even plan or hit and run play anymore. It makes me sad.

hen I build a farm like this, I like to put one storage tank inside my building. Usually, it will be close to my teleporter. My sales terminal is also placed close by. This makes harvesting multiple bases much quicker and easier.

I'm new to the game and having a blast! This has been one of the most clearly presented tutorial videos I have seen. Very helpful and great energy! 😂

I always use flooring to stack miners on top of miners. You can get better production that way.

The other option for getting Oxygen quickly, as suggested by Hawkes Gaming, is a base near an ocean with a decent proportion of oxygen plants, shooting the ocean in your ship to collect them really quickly. It's quick, fun, and relatively low startup cost.

Don't get hung up on finding S class deposits. They continue collecting even when your not playing so they will fill up when you're off line. What's more important is find a power spot near the resource you want extract. So I always search out the electro magnetic source then see what minerals or gases are near it. Sometimes you get the trifecta of power. gas and mineral all close together. I've set up several stasis farms playing on permadeath and that's what I focus on.
I always stack extractors in numbers divisible by four. Since they have a storage of 250 four of them gives you 1000 storage then the actual storage unit holds 1000 so when I need 1000 of a mineral to make my 20 stasis devices walk up to the storage container and only collect half giving me just the 1000 I need which is great when dealing with limited inventory. I need 10, 000 of the gases for my stasis devices so I stack 8 extractors and 8 storge containers and connect them all to get the 10, 000 I need.

A good way to farm is to hit up other ppls farms... I haven't had to farm in 3 years and I'm loaded with minerals.

I would add:

1. When you find the sweet spot where you get the highest yield, you can mark it with a beacon. Then, using the build camera, fly up so that you can see where the column of light comes through the top of the gas extractor. Repeat as you stack the extractors.

2. I like to set up a battery at each of my mines to see how much power I’m using versus what is available. It’s handy for gauging whether to add extractors or generators.

3. If you build a mine that requires extending base boundaries, build your entire mine before you leave the system. Once you leave, you won’t be able to build or modify anything beyond the default 300u radius.

4. I like to use half arches to make power lines with small lights on either side of the top tier. It’s handy for seeing if there’s any problems with power supply, and it looks almost as good as burying the wires.

why dont just use chlorine for making the money, since its worth more units a unit? Now, they nerfed so yeah, thats kinda sad.
I started refining my Active Indium for doubling the farms worth but well, its not that worth it anymore.

There is no point in having one base with tons of extractors, except if you have an A or S class... The efficiency drops pretty fast...

I like using a piece of metal flooring to start. The cross pattern makes for a perfect sight to hit the center and the 4 segments each perfectly fit any industrial unit. Plus, by using 4, you get 1k from the extractors then use 9 storage containers to make a full stack of any resouce. I'll use the storage containers to bring the resource to my base.

There would be even more yield if the extractors were clustered around the center of the hotspot rather than strung out in a straight line, but by the end I see there is such a huge array it wouldn't make that much difference -- and the nice straight line is easier to see tutorial purposes.
