Oh yay! Thank you for this! We live in NC now and have been dying for years over our longing for poi!

We eat taro as well in Ghana🇬🇭 the leaves and also the tuber but usually cut up and boiled or steamed with sauce or stew. Sometimes in pottage. Also, fried taro chips.

Wow I’ve never seen taro THIS purple before it’s gorgeous!! The taro I grew up eating was white/pinkish-grey

I'm obsessed with Taro ever since I tried Taro mocchi for the first time. Since then I've been enjoying various taro root things. I found out about Poi from another video, looked up how to make it and this was the first video I found. Simple, clean, easy, under a minute. Very helpful, thank you <3.

What should I eat with it? so far I've only been eating it with rice and pork.

In Puerto Rico we call it malanga and we just mash it without softening it into poi

Wow love the color. Great Video, randomness what do u do with it after? How u eat it? Or with what u eat it with?

I do not mean this in a mean way, but "-or a rock, but I don't have that" was funny to hear, cuz it is perhaps the most accessible tool in the world

What what is toxic? How do you know when it's cooked properly and how do you know if the toxicity has been cooked anyway

From the mainland: I tried this before, I must have gotten the wrong taro. Mine came out pale, not purple. Texture was okay, but I could not get mine to sour, even after leaving out on the counter for three or four days, so anybody have a solution? Or is the mistake in the wrong kind of taro?
