BELLE is inspired by the true story of Dido Elizabeth Belle (Gugu Mbatha-Raw), the illegitimate mixed race daughter of Admiral Sir John Lindsay (Matthew Goode). Raised by her aristocratic great-uncle Lord Mansfield (Tom Wilkinson) and his wife (Emily Watson), Belle's lineage affords her certain privileges, yet her status prevents her from the traditions of noble social standing. While her cousin Elizabeth (Sarah Gadon) chases suitors for marriage, Belle is left on the sidelines wondering if she will ever find love. After meeting an idealistic young vicar's son bent on changing society, he and Belle help shape Lord Mansfield's role as Lord Chief Justice to end slavery in England.

Sam Reid is so gorgeous and has the best manliest voice I've ever heard.  I would fall in love with him so fast.  The way he looks at this other man (his competition) touching her and being with jealousy is palpable.

His voice, his manliness, the intensity of his eyes! I'm in love 😍😍 I just came across this amazing movie and I loved it, can't wait to watch it again!

You can see that they are in love, but will not realize it until later that night.  John had been forbidden to see her.  This night when they are alone he pulls her to himself to shield her from the view of others--when their eyes meet--they realize that they love each other.

This was such a beautiful movie, I didn't think I'd like it since it was like an old style film (which I'm not really into) but it was really sweet! Definitely recommend this film
