The bottom line is women period regardless of age rank or race all women alike in those times had little or only a limited amount of freedom if a woman of high rank wanted to marry they clearly had no voice are choice in any decision making the parents chose for them for any young woman of high rank to inherit any fortune from her parents it had to come through the marriage of a wealthy man of the same rank if she disapproved she would be disowned by her parents and would inherit nothing . Although for both class and race it was different struggles both parties where standing up for the same things freedom and equality .
