Dr Harb my orthopedic doctor refuses to help me and do a hip replacement on me because I'm a smoker. Do you help people in really bad shape if they are smokers? I'm trying to change my living situation of 5 yrs now in order to get the procedure but because I can't walk anymore and need help daily it's hard to find a new place. I would love to be able to quit smoking but everyone I live with smokes. It's a tough situation because even my orthopedic has said it's one of the worst cases of arthritis he's ever seen. Ironically if I can have the surgery I would be recovering where no one smokes and from there I could go back to my own apartment and continue to live smoke-free. Anyway I'm just wondering it's so hard to find an orthopedic that will help someone like me because of that fact and I'm curious to know if you are the same way.
