CROCHETING MY VERY FIRST BLANKET // CROCHET VLOG

Hi friends!! This was a loooong journey but I am so happy to say I've finished crocheting my very first blanket! I feel like I can officially call myself a crochet-er now that I've checked this off of my list! For reference, I crocheted this entire blanket with a 4.00mm hook using lions brand heartland yarn (I believe it was in the colors rocky mountains, canyon lands, carlsbad caverns, capitol reef, and badlands) for the primary colors and loops&treads yarn for the white trim!

Beautiful blanket, you can't think about the cost it's about knowing that you made that, it's your art and it belongs only to you. I've been there I've thought about the cost of something etc. and what I could have bought it for at a big box store but there is nothing like a homemade craft. I've been crocheting for 40 years and stopped for 7 years and I just picked it back up about 2 years ago and I was surprised on how much yarn cost, years ago it was a way to make things on a budget but not anymore but it is nice seeing your generation picking up the craft and the yarns you have available today is amazing we pretty much had budget yarn. Btw, we all get burned out a time a two (or 7 years), sometimes picking up a smaller project for a while helps especially on the big blanket projects that takes a while to make that's where I struggle keeping focused on the same stitch over and over.

I'm crocheting a blanket while watching this. Watching videos of other people crocheting blankets while working on crocheting your own blanket is perfect. For me it gives this feeling of "I'm not the only crazy one!" because I always feel crazy for doing this to myself every single time I'm working on yet another blanket. But it is addictive.

the white yarns look slightly different when you hold both the skeins up together but you can't see the difference at all in the actual blanket, i love the finished product!!

I just started crocheting around a month ago and I have been watching these videos to get myself excited to finish my first blanket. I learned the single, double, treble, slip stitch, and popcorn stitch for my daisy blanket and I am so excited about it. I am making it for my dorm room as a personal handmade thing for my dorm. It'll be a sea green color with daisies all over it. I've estimated that I have to make 391 squares and so far I have made 15 so I hope I get it done in time!! Loved the video! Your blanket is gorgeous!!

I love your blanket! I haven’t bought that pattern yet, but plan to start it after Christmas. Don’t worry about your white/ivory colors not matching. No one will even notice; they will just notice how gorgeous it is! I am working on finishing my reading journal afghan now. I crochet a row for every book I’ve read based on the star rating. I will be so glad when it’s finished because I’ve literally been working on it since January! 😂

You could be using the same colored yarn but they are from a different "dye lot" making it have a slightly different shade

Currently crocheting a little hammock to put all my yarn in so it's out of my way in the very limited space of the camper I live in. I can't have multiple project going and bounce back and forth between them, its just too much for my brain. But my next projects I plan on doing are Christmas gifts. A granny square bag for my aunt, dishcloths for my aunt and grandma, and a skate leash for my friend.

Watching this video is making me want to make my own blanket. I have a crocheted blanket that my great great grandma made that we found in some of her belongings after she passed and it makes me feel good that I'm going something that my great great grandma, whom I honestly don't remember much of, used to do. And having both that inspiration of her doing the same thing and seeing you doing it, now I feel so motivated to make a blanket.
