Thank you to these lovely folks:

Our scores may have been high, but this week’s episode is definitely a bummer… join us for one of the most emotional reviews yet as we get into Smallville Season 2 Episode 8: RYAN.

We revisit memories of working alongside Ryan Kelley on set and the different emotional hurdles we had to overcome in creating this episode.

Tom talks about the unique juxtaposition of characters who usually have all the control, being helpless in this episode; while also discussing how he set boundaries while filming.

Michael remembers an improvisational outburst that sticks with him to this day, plus the idea of cast members being ‘in the dark’ when it came to the success of certain episodes and characters.

One of the saddest episodes of Smallville, but also one of the episodes where you can really see Clark becoming Superman.

Ryan Kelley playing Ryan definitely stole the show in this episode. They way he was able to dig deep to get those feelings out is tough but he just nails it every scene.

A heartbreaking episode. Ryan is the first time we see Clark having all these abilities and still not being able to save someone. That ending with Angels or Devils by Dishwalla always bring tears to my eyes. Ryan was right in the fact that Clark did change a lot of peoples lives.

It was so good to have him back in this season, he got to steal our hearts again and leave an impact ❤️

"Ryan" was very sad. One of the hardest lessons for Clark: THERE ARE EVILS FROM WHICH HE CANNOT SAVE PEOPLE. 😔

Ryan & Reckoning, for me, two of the saddest episodes of entire series. I'm very happy with the guests❤ but it would be nice to bring Ryan Kelley on Talk Ville. Great episode 2, 5 🌹

Clark's dedication to reach the doctor reminds me of when Superman reversed Earth's rotation in order to turn back time.

Ok so at the end during the scene with Ryan, Tom remembers Kristin was there with them; he remembers that little detail but he lost his memory during the epic kiss with her in the episode Red... You're killing me Tom !! 😂

Pete’s scooter line should not be overlooked. He should definitely be on the podcast.

It’s crazy the impact one character made that’s only in two episodes. I give credit to the Smallville writers for having the guts to have him die in the end. I feel like a lot of shows anymore pull their punches and as a result don’t get this emotional depth. Also, the emotions surrounding his death were so well played. Give yourself credit, Tom! You did great in this episode!

Also, always LOVE hearing what wasn’t scripted. The mayor saying “don’t laugh at me!” to Lex and the pauses Clark had in his conversation with Lana… awesome to hear how you as actors made these scenes that much better!

Love this week’s episode! Thanks again! ☺️

What a great episode...Clark learns that his powers can't help everyone. Really tugs our heartstrings.

A plot hole for me is why the authorities don't stop to ask why Garner/Summerholt were hiding Ryan from the police. That alone should null/void the custody agreement and confirm malice. LOL

But overall, it's a really great ep. Both times we see Ryan on the show, it gives really good insight into Clark. Also I love the continuity with Warrior Angel and the foreshadowing of how it applies to Clark and Lex.

BTW - The song "Angels or Devils" by Dishwala is used to PERFECTION in this.

Dishwalla "Angeles or Devils" was a perfect song to help pull on the heart strings while Clark deals with the loss of Ryan.

The music playing in the background after Ryan's passing captures the sadness so well for that specific scene. The musical beats in this show are always spot on not missing a beat.

Tom saying " I keep talking about Nick Cage "🤣

Such a sad episode. Ryan the actor was so amazing in portraying the character, so beautiful and emotional.

Clark realizing that he can't save everyone especially someone he cares about is so heart breaking.

I will give this episode: 🌹and a half

I enjoyed the fact that every character was working towards the same outcome, Ryan's well-being. Usually there are conflicting agendas from character to character but here we get to see a united front. I think that was one of the factors that made it such an emotional episode, especially when the combined efforts only achieved minimal success. Absolutely heartbreaking.

When Talkville first started I was straight away looking forward to what Tom's memories were of working with the kid from Stray and later Ryan. I was so disappointed when he just basically said he didn't have any memories of him and I think Michael was the only one who did. I thought, how the heck can Tom have no memory of a young child co-starring with him as opposed to the usual crowd of 20 year olds pretending to be kids. You would think he would have stood out. So now we have got to the Ryan episode I am looking forward to seeing if Tom has had any new memories come to the surface! Lets hope so!
