To Rosie, the show had color palettes. They specifically chose to make Metropolis shades of Blue, in part, to let the audience know where they were. This is something that would continue for many seasons, i think until Clark really spends more and more time in Metropolis, bringing the Yellows of Smallville there, and you start to see the colors brighten as Clarks actions give hope to the city.

Al Gough's response at 13:28 shows what made Smallville a truly great show. On another show, Lex would have done what the others were suggesting. Smallville had Lex make the emotionally revealing choice that showed us who he is and what he really wants.

Aside from the narrative reasons for Lex going to stay with the Kent's, I think Lex secretly (or not so secretly) wanted to be a part of the Kent family because they had the love that he lacked in his own. This is a reoccurring theme throughout the earlier seasons. Lex was envious of what Clark had.

I love when you guys call Al and he not only answers the phone, but has answers to questions off the top of his head with no prompts or prior set up. The memory on the man, unreal.

I imagine when Michael calls Al, Al looks at his cell and is like "Rosey? Again? * sighs * Okay, what bullshit question does he have for me this time?" Then he puts on his nice voice and answers the call.

Joking aside, I love these moments with Al. It really provides a little more insight coming straight from half of the show's creators.

One of the things I liked about Paul Wesley's Lucas is how observant he was. How he calls out the tells of Lionel, how blind people use their finger to measure the liquid in the glass, and his reactions. Paul did so well, would have been good to see him at least one more time. Great podcast guys! #AlwaysHoldOnToSmallville!

When Smallville was running I was a very busy working mother so I never had a chance to really get into it.

Also I never understood why Clark thought he could manage a job at the Talon. He is struggling to make time for Lana as it is, why would he give himself another opportunity to constantly let her down, lol
