Very nice video. I'll bet this method will work well for lighting a hobo stove. Those can be a bit difficult to work with when trying to start the fire from the bottom up.

Does it work with damp wood? Because with the tepee method you can burn damp and even green wood.

Umm! Great video and thank you for the content however I have to disagree with your hypothesis about smoke always coming towards you. The amount of heat generated by a human body would be negligible in comparison to the prevailing air movement (and their is always air movement). The smoke always comes towards you because the smoke knows where you are and is out to get you. Just Joking!!! Seriously it's just pure chance and statistics. When the air is still...ish, the smoke will get you 1/4 of the time. it feels like 80% but Nah, that's just our human conditioning... Having said that, if you are really close to the fire you could create a flue effect and then the smoke would seek you out like a chimney. Just my opinion. Cheers.
