I have a bs in accounting, currently working as accountant and I always tell ppl I suck with numbers lol. I think it’s more important to be analytical, good with systems/processes, and detailed in that you check over your work consistently

You have to see a greater scope of a business model. It’s not just making numbers fit. You have to know why and you have to help forecast, see what is best for profit for the company overall… understand the internal structure of the company’s financials.

If you replace numbers with math, maybe because sure accounting has not much in common with math, but if you don’t like numbers that is not the job for you.

Is mathematics a good degree to be an accountant or is finance necessary? I would like to major in mathematics and later physics to be a scientist, but accounting seems like a good safety net option for me.

Ridiculous. I definitely want my accountant to be a numbers person and be familiar with spreadsheets. I can do my own critical thinking once they give me the information that is relevant to my situation. Too many people are just taking online courses to get certified in a particular field then think they are experts at 20 yrs old.
