I spent 10 years as a chef, did my 3 year apprenticeship and everything.
But there’s nothing better than a nice meal cooked over an open fire, surrounded by your friends and family.
That’s the best food in the whole world, and I’d choose that every single time

Excellent video!
I'm a 53 year old bachelor that grew up on a dairy farm with 4 brothers.
Momma wouldn't let us in the kitchen; for good reason.
I don't like cooking and I ain't much at it, so any tips on the simple stuff are great.
I live off grid so my menu is limited up here on the hill.
Plus, I like to keep it simple.
Preciate the video.

Something about cooking outdoors on an open fire makes everything taste more delicious. The sound of the creek next to the fire is the icing on the cake; like nature’s own background music. Bom apetite.

Cast iron cooking on a campfire is one of my very favorite things to do. The food is always good (little hint of smoke!) and being in God’s beautiful creation of the great outdoors always makes the experience that much better. The meal looked delicious and your clean up was exactly as I use as well. Thank you for bringing us along!

Great video. Thanks! We cook over a fire a lot during the summer, sometimes grilling and sometimes with a black pot or skillet. I think one thing people don't know because of all the hype over cast iron is that you just cook in it like you would any other pot. And you can use any recipe - no need for special cast iron recipes. If you like it when you cook it at home, you'll like it cooked in a black pot over a fire. Nothing special needed. The hype needs to go away. Thanks for showing a simple recipe that shows exactly that. Nicely done.

Using metal on cast iron is fine, as long as you don’t scrape hard with it. And as you said, season the pan using hot water (no soap), a soft cloth out of an old T-shirt. Finish with a bit of oil of your choice. Your meal looks great, I can almost smell it.

That's my idea of fast food! Fast, easy and healthy for you. And better scenery than a drive through line. Thanks for sharing.

I love my cast iron. I cook with it more than 90% of the time. I used to use my grandma's old early 1960's big skillet for stir fry but I just got a lodge wok and so I use that baby often. my grandma's old skillet has the smooth finish. no name only size 12 1/2" I believe and USA . love that skillet 😊. Thanks for the video, I enjoyed it.

Only been watching your videos for about a year but it feels like we're old friends. You both are naturals or at least you guys make it look easy. 💯
Got my first order of cigars today now I go to figure out how to properly partake....🤠

Because of you all we are taking our 2 teens on a camping vacation. No cabin, just a tent and fire. That being said, I'm still pretty nervous about cooking over the fire but this is helping. Thank you!

one of my favorite things to cook over the fire are fish parcels . Usually basa fish, julienned veggies like carrots and green onion, soy sauce, ginger and garlic etc, folded into aluminum foil into a parcel (make sure the sauce can’t leak out), and they cook fast on the fire grill. really easy, you just have to practice knowing when they are done but it’s so moist they can’t dry out yum. I serve over white rice

I've used cast iron ever since my mom and dad would let me help with it. My dad used a Dutch oven -- what he calls a bake oven -- and my mom has cast iron skillets from before I was born. I'm 43 now. I was brought up using metal spatulas and spoons in the cast iron. I've never had an issue with the seasoning coming out.

Of course, I don't scrape hard with my tools either. Maybe that's why I don't have issues with my seasoning.
