Carpenters (Quad Mix) Top Of The World HD 1080

Re-upped and tweaked, remastered from the CD-4 quad LP, with a master quality version of a performance on German TV, the quad mix actually uses Karen's original 1972 first vocal from the "A Song For You" album, but with the instrumentation overdubs done later when it was released as a single. This is the rarest version of the song. I hope you enjoy it.

Randomly remembered this song and her voice today. She passed away in 1983, just five years after this performance. She died from complications of anorexia nervosa. Looking at this video would make you think that she’s one of the happiest people on earth, singing a joyful song. Yet we have no idea the internal struggles someone is going through. It also makes me think that someone who struggles with mental health realizes the true value of carefree moments, when they feel at ease. Hence why she sings this song not just with her voice but also her heart. She was someone who knew the worth of joyful moments and happiness. Blissful moments when there is “not a cloud in the sky” and not a worry on the mind. A respite from one’s own internal struggles.

Karen is one of the very few artists that have a perfect pitch voice. Her voice is the same in studio as live. No autotune back then.
