After 35 years, the superstar cast of the groundbreaking series “A Different World” is reuniting for the first time at the Red Table, revealing exclusive behind-the-scenes stories, hilarious and heartfelt memories and reliving their favorite episodes. Jada is joined by her co-stars Jasmine Guy, Kadeem Hardison, Dawnn Lewis, Darryl M. I was in the military, same age as the cast. I took college classes while in the military because of the show. My oldest baby girl’s name is Jasmine, my friend (another soldier girl) named her son Kadeem, my daughter’s bff name was Jaleesa, and my son’s friend’s name was Cree.

All of us Soldier girls named our kids after y’all. Thank you and Love Different World Forever. ❤

People in my dorm always compared me to kim Reese on the show...we were both the chocolate girls, cute smiles, same name, I was pre med and known for my strong study ethics...and today I'm a practicing ER physician...I loved this show ❤

I lived and died with this show. A year out of high school and one year into a military career..it just seemed like someone had peeked in on my life IN HIGH SCHOOL, not college (because I didnt go to college). But a lot of what they were dealing with in college was stuff that I dealt with personally in high school. The show grabbed me in a way that felt like the producers of the show, KNEW WHO I WAS as a young black person. And that happened when Debbie Allen took over the show. Before she showed up and got everybody in line, I watched the show in a very objective way...never attaching anything personal to it, because I had my doubts about how long the show would stay on, in the first place. I loved the battles between the two legends, Diahann Carroll and Patti LaBelle. And anytime Jenifer Lewis popped up, you knew you were going to have fun.

I'm 65 years old. I watched every single episode plus had an opportunity to be hired as a union extra on 3 episodes. The television show, "A Different World" is a piece of national treasure. I’m sorry but Debbie Allen saved ADW. The whole vibe was different when she took over. Hardly anyone refers to season 1 unless they are referencing it historically to reflect the inception of the series. This series is engrained into the very fabric of who I grew to be. Having aired the year after I was born and ending when I was about 7, ADW was an intricate part of me and my parents Thursday night. I saw Whitley as a little girl and fell in love 😍 I wanted to be an HBCU student and I wanted to marry a Dwayne Wayne 😂. When it went into syndication over the years I was elated. I got to grow with it all over again at different phases in my own life. It’s eerie how my life is similar to Whitley’s character. Life imitates art, art imitates life.

A Different World came out around the same time that I was starting out in life. Watching the show I became inspired to go to college, and to finish. Not only did I finish my undergraduate degree, but I also went back to school for my EMBA. Thank you to each and every one of you that was a part of A Different World. Your show has made a tremendous difference in my life!
