How To Program A Toyota Tundra Remote Key Fob 2003 - 2007 DIY Tutorial

An easy to follow video tutorial on how to program a remote key fob for a 2003 - 2007 Toyota Tundra.

1. Start with the key out of the ignition, drivers door is open all others closed and drivers door is unlocked.

2. Perform these steps within 5 seconds.
A. Insert the key into the ignition(Do NOT Turn) Pull key out.
B. Insert the key into the ignition(Do NOT Turn) Pull key out.

3. Perform these steps within 40 seconds.
A. Close then open the drivers door.
B. Close then open the drivers door.
C. Insert the key into the ignition(Do NOT Turn) Pull key out.

4. Perform these steps within 40 seconds.
A. Close then open the drivers door.
B. Close then open the drivers door.
C. Insert the key into ignition and leave it in ignition.
D. Close the drivers door.
E. Turn the ignition to ON (Do NOT Start) then back to OFF.
F. Remove the key from the ignition.

5. Within 3 seconds, the power door locks should lock then unlock automatically indicating successful entry into programming mode. Return to step 1 if the locks do not cycle at this point.

6. Perform these steps within 40 seconds.
A. Press the lock and unlock buttons on the remote key fob clicker simultaneously for 1.5 seconds.
B. Immediately after letting go of the lock and unlock buttons, Press the lock button by itself and hold for 2 seconds. Within 3 seconds, the door locks should lock and then unlock once indicating successful programming. If the door locks cycle twice, repeat steps A and B in step 6 as the remote key fob was not accepted.
C. Repeat steps A and B in step 6 for each new remote fob clickers.

7. Open drivers door.

This programming procedure will program a remote key fob clicker on the following years of Toyota Tundra : 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2007.

Alternate programming procedure: Have all remotes for the vehicle ready.

1. Make sure all doors are closed
2. Open Driver’s door
3. Insert key into ignition, then remove it
4. Press LOCK and UNLOCK on the vehicle door lock switch at 1 second intervals 5 times.
5. Close and re-open driver’s door
6. Press LOCK and UNLOCK on the vehicle door lock switch at 1 second intervals 5 times.
7. Insert key into ignition switch
8. Turn the ignition to ON then back to OFF (Do NOT Start or crank engine).
9. Remove Key from ignition
10. Door locks should cycle to confirm entry into programming mode

Oh key fob, Press and hold LOCK & UNLOCK together for 1.5 seconds; then press and hold LOCK until the locks cycle
11. Locks should cycle once to confirm programming. If they cycle twice, the programming failed
12. Repeat button procedure to program remaining remotes
13. Close driver’s door. Test remotes.

This doesn’t work for my 2007 tundra. The 2007 is a different body and has a different key from the previous years tundra so is this process still applicable or am I screwed?

ive tried this a hundred times now, and ive done the "delete other fobs" step where it cycles 5 times instead. Ive then tried to add my key. It works just like the video; the door lock cycles when i press the button! and then, once i open the door to exit program mode, it doesnt work at all after that. What do i do?

This worked on my '15 tacoma until i had my headlamps, taillights, side reflectors updated to Alphalux lights. I retried this and i get to the programming mode fine but it just doesn't take. Any advice or has anyone experienced the same?

Are you sure this works for 2007 tundras? That was the first year of the new generation. I have a 2007 and this is not working for me.

I get all the way to the end and hit lock button on fob and the locks double cycle instead of single cycle and then fob does not work. Do you know what problem might be? 2003 tundra limited.
