You've missed the entire point of the xe fuji line. I am an xe-2 owner and have taken it all over the world. It's slim, it's subtle, it has a lovely evf placement, and it's designed for manual or auto focus lens uers where your aperture dial is often on the lens itself. From a street photography standpoint, the xe cameras are perfect, they are designed after film cameras, you have your shutter dial on top, to quickly adapt your exposure without using the menu at all, set your lens f stop for the day, and iso for the sun, and all you'd ever need to do is occasionally change your shutter which cam be done from this dial. In essence, this is a photographers camera, what does that mean? Well, you have less options, you need to figure out how you want to expose your scene and subject, before you head out into the street, there is an intuition there, using experience and knowledge to set your cameras settings and not having to rely on a bunch of functions from the digital age. Imho for travel or street photography, there are no better options that the xe line, they give you all the basic functions of a camera, in the most classic and utilitarian package modeled after the original film cameras the golden age of photography. At this price point it's also a no brainier.

Not improving the evf after 8 years is just inexcusable for me.

Honestly I just want the X-E3 body with screen, sensor en software of the X-E4. Everything else is just better on the X-E3, small things like the fact that it has a thumb grip, and I use the focus select a lot

I am still feeling sad over the disappearance of the d-pad...

TOTALLY agree that these little guys are being “dumbed down” a bit. Not a direction for me. Thanks Omar for continuing to inspire us!

My X-E3 display broke a few months ago, and I was thinking of getting an X-E4. But I agree with you Omar. The little things are important. I use the focus knob, the back dial, and even the thumb+Front-grip all the time when walking and holding it dangling on my side. I don’t use the front dial at all actually, lol. And X-S10 feels like NO because of the dreaded move to PASM which to me never felt right. I’m wondering if this is due to new leadership in the company? In any case, I’ll stick to my broken X-E3 for photography.

At least 20% of fuji’s xt-20 purchases were inspired from you. Omar youre the man

I agree with everything that you've said but I also adapted incredibly quickly to the X-E4, and it becomes just as easy to operate once you re-learn the language. I'm a big fan of the minimal look and feel.

GREAT video Omar. I could not agree more. Focus setting switch? Just works. Rear command dial? Just works. There comes a point when you strip down enough features that the item becomes less usable as a result. There's an understated benefit of haptic UI controls just working by touch without having to look at them -- and not have to goof around with a touchscreen for everything.

+1 the physical controls are what brought me to Fuji, and hoped this would replace my X-T20; LOVE the Auto switch on that camera. Own the X-T3, X-T4, x100F - don’t want to lose my D-pad and switches.

I wonder how many people you inspired to get the x-t 20. A lot I would imagine. I am one of them and enjoying it so much. This video made me feel once again that I had chosen well.

I couldn’t agree with you more. I just picked up a used X-E2S and I’m loving all the dials and buttons. What I’d like is an X-E2 body with a flip screen and the latest sensor and software. It would be the ideal camera for me.

Removing the d-pad on the X100V was a big mistake. The X-E4 just takes those type of mistakes, and dials it up to 11. Total bummer.

I bought the xpro3 and haven’t had any interest in other cameras.
Weather sealed, dual sd card, and excellent picture output, what else do I want more.
Oh the successor to x70 / xf10!

If you already don’t have and need that 27mm f2.8, new “WR” pancake lens, I think it is worth getting that x-e4 lens kit, since it is cheaper as a bundle. Of course, if you already own x-e3 or x-t20, it might be hard to justify getting (or upgrading) to x-e4. However, the flip screen and updated video features are very tempting. I think anyone who needs more compact (than x-s10) hybrid camera, this camera needs to be much more considered.

If you think of it as a minimalistic film camera, X-E4 makes a lot of sense and it looks pretty too :)

I like that they are making cameras that are different from each other with different features. Not everyone wants the same features on a camera.

The X-A7 and X-T200 lines have been discontinued. So the X-E4 has now been positioned as the Fujifilm entry level camera. So it now has an entry level physical design. I wouldn't be surprised if their entire lineup is revamped and renamed after the X-H2 (or its equivalent) is released. The X-S10 is evidence of that.
