ScienceCasts: Weird Planets

Once, astronomers thought planets couldn't form around binary stars. Now Kepler has found a whole system of planets orbiting a double star. This finding shows that planetary systems are weirder and more abundant than previously thought.

Not for a veery long time (none of us will see it), if we ever do.
The best you can hope for in our short lifetime is a colony on The Moon or Mars. The fastest way to get that kind of exploring going, is if China lauches a serious space program and the US gov. follows engages in a spacerace and gives NASA the budget they deserve.

You know thats probably not really that weird. Only to us because we orbit 1 sun. There are soooo many possibilities in the universe there probably are alot of planets that have multpile suns. I was watching a video on distant planets the other day and they mentioned a planet that had 3 suns in its solar system..

Kepler-47b might be size of Neptune- therefore making it less earth-like...

However, Neptune have thirteen moons, making it possible that maybe Kepler-47b might have natural satellites that supports life. :D

Really, really mind boggling. Thanks NASA. Wish you could have more money to be able to make discoveries faster. This is such awesome stuff. I'm eagerly waiting for the next update.

we believe that in the heart of large gas giants there may in fact be a surface...like Jupiter we believe has a metallic hydrogen core.

Please talk about our weird 10th Planet (Planet X) which is a floating planet.
Please explain why it takes 3, 600 years to reappear & get so close to the Sun.
Please explain why coming Dec 2012 we'll see 2 Suns in the sky due to Planet X.
