Life as we know it doesn't thrive on planets without ozone layers. A new instrument slated for launch to the ISS will monitor Earth's protective ozone shell with greater depth and precision than ever before.

its impressive that a small change in our society way of thinking can help our planet, can you imagine what we could do to help reduce global warming and other problems?

Dear NASA:

I love you guys. I love everything you do. I love space. I love science. I'm subscribed to this channel.

I think we both recognize it is essential to educate people about science, and that videos like these are a great tool for getting some pretty advanced science to a public video.

I'm not trying to be critical, but hear me out. These videos are rather.... dry. Someone who isn't passionate about science isn't going to watch past the first thirty seconds. Work on that, maybe?

Every country in the U.N. agreed that the ozone layer had to be protected through a ban on CFCs. Remarkable. Especially when you consider that ozone comprises only of the atmosphere. Remember that the next time you hear a climate denier argue that CO2 "only" amounts to 0.03% of the atmosphere. (Water vapor = 1-4%)

If we did that we would have no plastic material which would than prevent the creation of many 'green' energise such as solar power.

Think of it like this:
If we are wrong about it, nothing bad happens but we still improve overall life quality by making less shitty products.
If we are right, we just stopped the stupid part of humanity(most of it) from killing everyone.

win win.

...after which, I'd have to ask myself if I trust Penn & Teller or a bunch of NASA scientists more when it comes to science.

Nasa is right the ozone layer was getting thinner. but wait doesn't the atomic bomb have affect on the ozone layer like the one dropped on japan? Also the nuclear powerplants and chemicals that most factories use do the same thing?

Eliminating CFC emissions was fairly painless, economically.
But the really tough decisions will be delayed, likely until the use of fossil fuel becomes critical.
Humankind has exploded since oil and machines were first exploited, and now, civilization is fully addicted.
As this limited resource begins to run out, the human race is in for some rude awakenings.

It's not because they might be "right" and NASA "wrong". But you shouldn't trust everything you hear (even if its from NASA). You should watch and hear the story on both sides and decide what is right and what is wrong. Research and get your own opinion on the subject.

Life is sure to be miserable, in the near future. Why not the CFC manufacturing units be closed when human life is threatened? Are they, CFC manufacturers, are more powerful than the Government ruling the country?. Educating people to know the ills of uses of spray is difficult than banning the product.
