After verifying you have 12 vdc feeding your distributor of your HEI distributor

Remove the coil and test the primary and secondary windings using a multimeter

This one actually tested good, but I take you the the basic steps, it ended up being a faulty ignition module

Didn't you know that ignition coils can fire negative or positive high voltage? With positive ground, the high high volts jumps upward to the center of plug. The positive ignitions fire downwards to ground of engine.

When I perform a continuity test it beeps on the primary side

I don't have 12 volts supplied to the coil, i took the batt. Wire off the coil and with the key on voltage bounces between 1 and 5 volts. Also my tach quit working the week before. Im wondering if the 2 wires shorted together causing my problems?

I have 1.5 ohms on the primary which exceeds the 1 ohm criteria...time to replace?

My primary reads 000.3 my secondary reads 07.44 is it a good coil ?

My primary red yellow-reads 0.00 the black lead is fine at 6.88 I’m running in circles on this dang ole ignition nonsense-Does them 0s mean it’s bad? Love the jack bottles lol looks like me- thanks

Wanna real quick way to check modules and coils? Take a weller solder gun turn the key on and hold the gun buy the module and hit the trigger. If everything is good it will fire. If it fires but still won’t run it’s the pickup.
