2018 Honda Accord 1.5 rattle noise (fixed)

Went to the dealer and the tech resolved the issue. He found that the front strut bolts were improperly tightened so he re-torqued them and now the noise is gone. Hope this helps you guys. Ask your dealer to check the strut bolts if you’re having this issue.

Just remove the Plastic Caps that cover the strut. Only happens when it’s freezing outside.

Removing the rubber piece from the top of the strut made the trick for my car. Thank you!

Mine just got fixed a few weeks ago. I gave them your dealers response (thanks). They said it was plastic caps that go over the strut bolts in the engine compartment. The dealer removed the caps and no more noise. The plastic caps are purely cosmetic no reason to have them (per the dealer). Hope this helps others as it is annoying.

Thanks for this. I just started noticing this rattle this morning, after the temperature in Houston dropped from in the 80s down into the 40s. I will have to try this.

Awesome! Thanks for posting this as I finally decided I was tired of hearing this noise in my Accord and was going to take it in for diagnosis. Mine was intermittent and I could only record it for proof. I really didn't want them tearing my dash apart as the noise sounded like it came from driver's side under/in dash.

So glad 😊 I found this video helped me from going insane...lol I was wondering why it would rattle on cold days and then on hot days it wouldn't. Removed the caps and it's completely silent now lol. Thank you sir 🙏

Nice, I had the same issue early on and the dealer didn't find anything wrong. I ended up removing the plastic cover which stopped the noise but will now show them this next time I go in.

If its not the strut dust caps, check the hood to make sure it is tightly closed. My 2017 CRV made the exact same noise. There are two cone shaped rubber cushions the hood sits on when it closes. One of mine is loose so I folded over a few layers of cloth and covered it to take up the play. Closed the hood and the hood was snug. No more noise. Now I have to replace them.

Does the sound appear from the left and right side, or only from one side?

I have the exactly same issue!!! I took it to dealer and they added some foams into the dash but it doesn't help at all... I am not sure if I should mention this to the service department of my dealer... very annoying
