Solving equations with rational expressions

Using remainder theorem:

x² - x - a = -8
(2)² - 2 - a = -8
2 - a = -8
-a = -10
a = 10

Bro it can also easily solve by taking lcm on right hand side

Why not just put x=0
A/2=1+8/2
A=10

This given equation has both sides same variable x, hence put x=0 then solve for a
(X=0 does not make any term non real) hence x can be putted as 0.
