This does not work. I have done the same thing 3 times now. Delete in Google drive and then empty the Trash bin. But Lo, 1 to 2 days later, they are back in google drive.

I just uninstalled the whole application from my phone. Problem solved. I noticed that it just hijacks your memory and doesn't have options to delete large files.
