The real tip here is NEVER get rid of a flash drive! There's no need to discard them unless they stop working.

When a flash drive becomes junk to you. There's this amazing hardware called a hammer.

Nice analogy between a filesystem's index and a web search index!
It's also very interesting that USB drives and even flash cards (MicroSD included), just like hard drives, have their own firmware (running on a tiny soc I've read) and can secretly remap sectors, so the ultra secret data might never really be overwritten, even if you write to every available bit of space on the drive, because the sector you really want to write may have been moved to the "bad" stack of sectors and is inaccessible, very hard to reach but your data is still there.

Please do more vidoes like this! I work in computer forensics and i always love to find new free or pay utilities that can help my clients. Especially on mobile phones and devices. Great content.

I didn’t know that, Liron. Now you told me about it, now I know what to do. Thank you for your help and wisdom to explain it again and again. Stay safe, healthy, strong, happy and be blessed 👋 💖✌️🍀🍀🍀❣️

Very information video. I always wondered how can you delete files and recover them while in the storage it shows that the files are deleted and the storage is freed up. Now I know that it’s not permanently deleted unless that “freed data” is filled again with other file or basically overwrite the deleted files. Thank you for this video.

I have known about this since the 80's and would go onto a floppy disk and replace the first character of the name on the file to undelete the file by hand.

Man this video was very interesting!!! I’m glad I happened upon your channel. It’s been years since I used a desktop or even a laptop. Although I own both. My iPhone has replaced them both. When I need computer information I now know where to go. Thank you so much. 👍🏾👍🏾

Yes Definitely please do one for Apple iPhones—including older models like the iPhone 6. Thanks.

Liron, do you have a recommendation for a utility or method that I can use to clean all the _previously_ deleted files from my laptop?

Only a minute and a half into the video but this is one of the most useful videos. I’ve seen on YouTube in a long long time. Thank you.

Wow, I just find this channel !! It's fantastic :) . If you do a full format on a st stick/card ... I always thought that destroys all data ?

Last week I bought an 250GB SSD (second hand) from a popular UK tech exchange company. No word of a lie, one run through disk drill is scary - one set of employee files (sick notes, development plans etc), loads of technical drawings that were (at least) proprietary for the company that previously owned it; and publicly available US-MILSPEC. Whilst these are available anyway, quite worrying for a company operating in this area of the market that me, off the back of one video, was able to dig this up

I had to do this with a gigabyte memory card so I plugged it into my camera and recorded a 4K video with the lens cap on for 30 minutes or however long it was to fill up the card I did this formatting before in between and after would that be good to wipe previous file data

Question: How effective is a full format (NOTE: NOT a quick format)?
