I ve twice seen the sky turn yellowish green after a multicell afternoon thunder storm typical of what we experience during the summer in NC. These storms lack a rotating updraft and form when wind shear is low unlike supercell thunderstorms which tornadoes are produced. North and South Carolina get 90 % of the tornadoes that touch down in either state from QLCS ( squall line storms) pushed by a cold front.

I literally am freaking out right now because there is a huge thunder storm and I saw a wall of cloud and a huge funnel cloud and now there is hail. 🌪😣
