Demonstration of model development and the optimal solution of a network transportation model, or transportation problem, with Excel Solver. In this example, you would like to minimize the cost of shipping products to distribution points. You are given the cost to ship products along each path in a network of origins to destinations. You are also given forecast demand and production capacities. Learn how to build the model in Excel and then set up and use solver to minimize the cost associated with meeting product demand.

Hi, can you help me solve this below problem:?


Let set M contain the sources that generate waste and N denote the set which includes all disposal sites. The amount of waste generated at source i is w_i and capacity of disposal site j is c_j. Let K denote the set of candidate transfer facilities. Each candidate transfer facility k has a fixed cost f_k , capacity cost q_k and processing cost α_k per tonne of waste. Let d_ik denote the distance from source i and transfer facility k and d_kj denote the distance from transfer facility k and disposal site j. A typical waste flow is as follows: From source i to transfer facility k, then from transfer facility k to disposal site j. Formulate an optimization problem such as the cost of transportation and fixed cost of locating transfer facilities is minimized.
Present the formulation in general form
For |M| = 4; |N| = 4 and |K| = 3, assume other quantities (w_i, c_j, f_k, α_k, d_ik etc., ) and solve the problem in excel and present the results (Also ensure d_ik + d_kj≤ d_ij)
