Good info CP!
Nowadays there are so many choices, so it's important to do a bit of research. Also leave the high end scan tools for shops to supply. I'd recommend staying under $1000 for a personal scan tool that is very capable. Bi directional and graphing capability is a must. Also, Choose a brand that has add ons like TPMS and other features that can be added later.

I work on gm vehicles as a Chevrolet dealership tech but every once in a while I’ve got to work on “used cars” from outher brands like fords, dodge, Honda, Toyota. I have my own midi 2 & I paid $700 for it but I really do want a scan tool in the 1k-2k range

The big three seem to be Autel, xTool, and Launch. TopDon, iCarSoft and Ancel are new to me, and there's not many videos on YouTube for them. Seems like a video using them would be useful to more than your regular viewers.

I ordered the xtool D8BT as it seems the best bang for the buck

Good Evening Fellow Toolhaulics 😊: Cp thank you for your efforts concerning the Scan Tool Arena. God love ya man with all of those devices. Just as you said 2 to 3 years for a device & it's too slow & outdated let alone loading it up with proven updates. The more lines of coded software into a marginal platform & your just standing there getting a suntan. My thanks goes out to JDTCO & his terrific company/ people for another terrific tool haul. My Nepros ratchets are presently at 8 + other stuff & CP last night I received the complete Capri angled wrench metric wrench set to keep next to my Snap On angled set. There has been times when I could have utilized 2 metric angled wrenches & ending up rigging up something quick to get by. Now I'm ready & my thanks again goes out to you sir. Oh & the radiator blowers will be here bext week. Every recommendation has been absolutely perfect sir, thank you again, my best wishes to all on the channel 😀, & please stay safe. TMP from N.J. 😀

I have the Thinktool Pros and it's normally a $1, 169 scan tool but I bought it last year on sale for about $850. It's an Android 10 machine with a 10" screen. It does a ton of stuff and I love it. It's based off of Launch software.

I’m in the market I’d like to be around 500 with bidirectional capabilities but I don’t really care about Bluetooth I have been considering the mk808 cause it has bidirectional capabilities now I work at a ford dealership but I do get all the non ford stuff and have had to go to my old shop to use the snap on scanner to diagnose stuff lol

I literally just opened up my Launch Pro3s today. Also just a side note, it is different from the Pad3, the Pad3 is a step up but a bit older. Love the content CP!

An often overlooked part of most reviews is the need for cell phone or internet connectivity. As a DIYer, My little garage does not have an internet connection and has very poor cell coverage. If the scan tool needs those connections when hooked to the car it will do me no.good. please include connectivity requirements in your reviews.
