AUTEL is an unethical company that takes advantage of its consumers. I acquired a maxisys pro in 2015 and had no reason to upgrade its software because it was compatible with all of my vehicles. A free update released an application that works like ransomware and installs a timer that prevents you from accessing the diagnostic part of the tool. Now, all I get is a “Software is not authorized!” message when I try to use the diagnostic part of my tool The only available option is to purchase an upgrade from Autel for $1400.00. Product knotting is illegal in the United States, and this corporation should be severely punished for what they're doing to their customers in order to create cash flow due to the recent lawsuit Autel settled.

Just bought an xtool ip819. In case your wondering because I can't find any info on specifics for supported vehicles on any scan tool. The xtool I bought does not talk to drb 3. So any dodge between 98-07... I've tried it on two different 05 dodges. Same story on both. One is a ram 3500 the other a neon. Support told me If I want to use it on diesel vehicles to buy a diesel scan tool. (The 819 being marketed with 31 special functions and one of which being dpf systems. Which if you don't know is diesel particulate filter.) So I was more than a little pissed to hear this. Figured they mistook what I was saying as me working on a semi I tried to clarify that, then I was met with a reply that indicated the email I was responding to was a general support ticket generator. I sent everything explaining my concerns and the questions I was needing answers to only to not get a response. I'll be returning it and not buying another xtool. Really wanted to like this scanner.

i think xtool a30m is perfect for diy guy, the free subscriptions for me are what make the difference between paper weight and usable device.put yourself in this position, your friend/family member has a issue with their car, your just a diy guy, how any would cough up $40 just to look at that car one time because you have to buy that cars make subscription and that sub only lasts a year.
most would never use it and when they did they would use it far far less then the free subscription scanner.

i got the xtool a30m that is the $600 platform just in a bluetooth dongle cutting cost to $200.the fact you get pretty much identical platform as these devices/free sub at $200 makes this imo the best deal for the diy guy

Excellent Review. I'm looking at the xtool a30m which is described as very similar to the d7 in function-minus programming. It's around 200 dollars and you provide your own android phone/tablet.

Autel recieved a big massive update like month ago and now it does have active tests and covered quite alot models, own this tool and tested it out on s class benz absolutely supreme update! Overall it does scan better than others, why? Been comparing it with different scanners some of those cant read trouble code even out or they just put you referer to owners manual, but once you hit autel up it shows everything proper fault code number, where and why and you can find soultion much faster.

Yeah I just said the hell with it and bought a Autel MaxiSys MS906BT yes it was about 3 times the cost of the mk808 but I can do way more with it

I purchased an Xtool D7 new in October 2023. For the most part it works well but the one thing that does not work is the live data is not that accurate. The Xtool sampling rate is too slow. Xtool said they would fix it. Then they came back and said they would not fix it but instead gave me an additional year of updates. Big woopee
