"I'll be the calm, I will be quiet. Stripped to the bone I wait." My favorite character from The Tudors.
Song: Thousand Eyes by Of Monsters and Men
Show: The Tudors

EDIT: I will just explain the music choice here. I used this song because the loudness that grows towards the end, in my mind, symbolizes Mary’s mental state. It’s meant to be unsettling. It’s also meant to be Mary transitioning from being 'thrown into the storm' to 'becoming the storm'. The lyrics were the reason for the choice.

Also, something interesting about Mary's portrayal in The Tudors that I tried to show in this video was her relationship with Chapoys. This was the only man who shows her constant kindness in her weakest moments. In a way he is her true father. Having him, a staunch catholic, as a father figure no doubt impacted Mary, in the show at least. If an authority figure that she respects has certain beliefs, it's quite easy to understand why Mary shares his convictions.

So I'm getting tired of responding to all the "Mary was not the first queen of England" comments. Yes, she was the first regnant queen. Here's why:
1. Matilda was never crowned, she was never officially queen of England. (Even if she should have been)
2. Lady Jane was "queen" for 9 days before getting her head chopped off. She is known as "Lady" Jane for a reason. She was nothing more than a puppet.
3. Also, just google it people.
Peace.

It hurts that Mary blamed her gender for not being a boy.

Such a tragic figure of English history. Certainly not a villain. Mary clearly developed mental health issues due her chaotic upbringing and the cruel mistreatment of her great mother. She was just a devout Catholic who did what she saw was right. A strong woman, broken down, living in a mysogynistic world. Another casualty of Henry VIII's tyranny. Elizabeth wasn't the first queen, Mary was and rightly so. She should never be overlooked. Glad The Tudors portrayed her in a more positive and sympathetic light. Brilliantly portrayed too by Sarah Bolger!!!,

Favorite queens : Elizabeth, Mary, Mary queen of Scots, and Anne Boleyn, even though they were all pretty much enemies lmao

Sarah brought so much humanity to Mary in her early portrayal and did a wonderful job showing that peek into the "Bloody" Mary that will come to power in the future. I just wanted to cuddle her through the whole show, she deserved so much better. If they ever do a film about Mary I, Sarah has to return to the role. No one else can do it. We've seen the before for Mary, the life she had as a young child and as a teenager, we've seen the princess. Now we need to see the queen and only Sarah should be able to bring that back to life.

OK but can we just appreciate how angry and frustrated Mary can get but yet still keep a elegant posture (4:33)

The way she stepped forward to Katherine Howard, her maids must have been thinking “shit is about to get messy”

1:27 "I recognize no Queen but my mother" Mary was so loyal to her mother and I love it, it's sad to think how she suffered and how she was treated from the future Queen of England to a servent of Elizabeth and how mean treatment she was, but, though it all, she always stayed by her mother's side and always saw her mother as the legitimate and truth Queen of England 💔😭😖😍😍😍
Mary is Catherine's heir, her legacy and a true Spanish princess, she was the legitimate granddaughter of Isabella of Castile and a true Queen❤️❤️😍😍🥰

I have been waiting for you to drop another brilliant edit but I never imagined it would be a Mary Tudor one, she’s so overlooked!

The scene where she is crying in Chapuys’ arms made me so sad. He (in the show at least) was more of a father figure to her than her real father.

I love this video, many see her as a bloodthirsty monster, but that was really her father. He killed a lot of people just for disagreeing with him. Yet they say the tyrannical one was Mary.
You put her as how she really was, Henry's legitimate heir and the First regnant queen of England.

I loved writing the essay about Mary Tudor, probably the only 10+ page essay I did without complaint. Love her, hate her, either way she is a memorable queen. Her life was full of ups and downs, and I loved reading and learning about her.

There is a book I read called the Spanish Tudor. She is a fascinating historical person who, if she would have been supported, could have been a great queen. As it was she was constantly having to defend her right to rule along with doing what she believed was her duty to restore England to the Catholic church. However she is no more bloody than any other monarch of that time including her famous grandparents Ferdinand and Isabel and her own father. She was the first woman to successfully be crowned Queen regnant of England and held onto her crown for 5 years. I wish we learned more about her in school beyond the bloody part. She really is interesting!

Mary Tudor was the first Queen of England because she was the first woman who actually RULED England. Just being called Queen doesn't make one thus. And that's what Jane Grey and Matilda were - Queens in name only. Although, Matilda was actually only declared 'Lady of the English.' But she never ruled England. Even at her highest point in the English civil war Matilda only controlled half of the country - the western portion and down to Cornwall I believe. Jane Grey may have been declared Queen of England (I believe by her father) but she never even came close to actually ruling it. She spent those nine days effectively on house arrest in London until Mary rode into the capital with her army and seized her birth right by force.

This really is one of the best edits of Mary Tudor, it really captures her struggles, life, and how she was raised, and everything she's come to know and believe in. Great job. :P

Love how Henry bowed to her the moment he did that i was like she’s gonna have people bow for her, everyone knew she would have reigned also feel like Henry was the closest with her cuz he actually saw her grow up and like he loved Catherine regardless so he didn’t have anything against Mary .

This video has been edited perfectly.
But it was possible; because on the Serie The Tudors, gave a positive portrayal of Princess Mary Tudor, an underrated historical character.
