Hunting idle is a common problem for a Honda engine, First make sure to check vacuum hoses, TPS oring, intake & throttle gasket that you have NO VACUUM leak. Coolant is top off & no air bubbles in the system, last but less clean the IACV (idler air control valve) solenoid.

I have a vacuum leak I couldn't find. The idol was bouncing up and down, it was a rubber seal in between the brake master cylinder and the brake vacuum booster. When I press my brakes hard it idles fine, and when I take my foot off it bounces.

This may "solve" some people's complaints, but you're not "fixing" the problem with this hack. That part has a specific function, to control the idle using a stepping motor. All you did in this video is make the valve ineffective at controlling idle. You'll now almost never be able to detect a vacuum leak unless you hear the hissing of a leak. And to the people that pulled the screw all the way out, you may be creating a vacuum leak that will make your car run lean.

Sup from Brazil men, i buy a 2000 EX A/T civic and i made the same problem. This fix is permanent? Or the problem back after a little time?

Does this affects the fuel consumption? Or it will just stabilize the engine idle?

Back when there was a cable for throttle.
The new junk in DBW( drive by wire)
You can never find the culprit now.

98 civic here, I cleaned my IACV and noticed a dramatic loweringi in idle, but still have PO505. I cleared the codes, bled coolant system let it warm up and still IACV code. Bought a new IACV valve and hoping its a fix. Edit i also turned idle screw in as much as i could and no joy.

I tried this method and it somewhat worked. I found that the tighter I made it the louder the surge was, the looser it got the quieter it got. It only stopped completely once I removed the screw
