As a self taught, no degree whatsoever designer in Germany.. dont do it.. not because you cant learn it, but because you can, which is bad for us.. its not as difficult and many designers have some "talent" for the job, which makes it an oversaturated field very fast, which then makes our income lower, which is bad for you too.. so dont do it, and also dont fall for the trap of.. oh if you are good companies will appreciate you, they wont.. companies have one goal, thats profits, you can be the best designer ever, but you will be exchanged with a cheaper employee the moment they find one who can do most of what you can, even if its of lower quality.. hell its how i got every single job thus far, and last month i said no to an art director job.. mind you i only have 5 years of experience, but im recommended to companies because i grind my bones for the teams.. i put in over a 1000 hours of overtime for the trust, and my work isn't great.. its good enough, but i deliver the tasks of 3 designers, which means that even if im paid good, im cheaper to keep..
