I recommend warm engine, and when you take the sample allways do that as the oil flow out, let it flow for 3 Seconds and then take sample bottle in the flow, , that is the correct way to make a clean and accurate sample. My personal preference for engine oil to my 997.1 Carerra S is Valvoline Synpower 5W-40 With Porsche A40 certification

I did a Blackstone Oil Analysis on my e46 M3 once. I sold it before the next change was due, but I think it’s worth it on cars with high maintenance requirements, known issues (bearing in the e46), or just high strung engines in general. I think if you have a history of them and they are clean it does you good when you sell the car private party. Only thing I saw that you did a little strange is dip the sample from the drained oil. When I did mine it was recommended to collect a sample somewhere in the middle of the draining process (not when it first starts draining and not the last droplets coming out). That should ensure you get a fairly consistent sample. The way you collected it, if you did have any contaminants or particulars they could’ve settled in the bottom of the drain pan depending on how long you waited. I’m sure you’re fine, but I think it can skew the readings some.

Have you considered switching to a 5w-40 Porsche A40 approved engine oil? I heard from my independent that Porsche now recommends 5W-40 on most Porsches esp if not living in the arctic region (Arizona).

I get results back in just over a week. But your suggestion that an analysis is helpful is a good one.

I get the TBN tested. Tells you if you can go a little longer or not between oil changes

But again, good advice, enjoy your porche

Hi, cost to get the lab results? Do you think the resale is going to be strong with these many miles? Lastly after you did the Hundo hack and with current miles, have you noticed more steaks? I feel I hear new sounds like cracks when going over bumps. Wondering if the shop did not tighten bolts or I simply need my chassis lubricated.

Is that the factory-recommended oil change interval for your car?
