AMD is brushing their raw drivers up so much better, it took forever but they're finally doing it. (keep in mind they're really getting everything together now, the rx 7000 and zen 4 are definitely going places if AMD is fixing up its drivers like this.)

Dude, demo discs on PS1 were legendary. Got more playtime out of those than most games coming out these days.

Honestly, for me, game demos coming back is the biggest thing in here. I don't even know how many games I've been on the fence on and then not purchased because I just wasn't sure if I'd enjoy them. If demos had still been around and I could try them first I'd have probably ended up buying a good number of them. Plus, a well made demo can really hook you and get you excited for a game

So now AMD acknowledges that their OpenGL driver is worth fixing? There are tons of older games that only use OpenGL and my performance on windows was abysmal. So I installed Linux and used the open source driver and got 2-3x the performance in the game I was playing. This was years ago, anytime I mentioned it online AMD fanboys would always say it was no big deal and not worth focusing on. If AMD had done this earlier I probably would have stayed with their GPU's but now I'm on NVIDIA for the time being despite how much I dislike them as a company.

It's been 20 years, but AMD finally fixes their opengl driver for Windows. Thank god. Praise the Lord.

I really hope AMD updates older gpus (that they still support btw so no excuse) with the OpenGL performance upgrades, there is no reason why modded Minecraft should be unplayable without animations disabled on an rx 580.

Those kind of performance uplifts and productivity gains just with Drivers!? Holy shit. If AMD gets their drivers together they'd leave NVIDIA in the dust. That's scary good architecture. Which is weird to say because I love NVIDIA cards.

Can't wait for GPUs to get competitive again. Feel like AMD has been behind for a while in the GPU department. Really need a better hardware decoder to compete with NVEC.

Not to mention Intel's ARC coming to compete with Nvidia as well

I'm so glad that I'll be getting a nice speed boost with my AMD GPU and I'll be able to enjoy just as soon as AMD fixes the bug where YOU INSTALL THE SOFTWARE AND THEN IT'S LIKE "LOL JK I DIDN'T ACTUALLY INSTALL ANYTHING"

Mentioning Blender in those AMD drivers is kind of pointless as it only uses OpenGL for the veiwport and likely wont see any real impactful performance gain. Now if they get HIP to run on par or close to Cuda, then we're talkin'.

I hope that rdna 2 boost reaches steam decks. i dont know the specifics but It would be a great boon to any title on tthe platform if its applicable
