One massive misconception that I had when watching you and other top cities skylines players is that you guys constantly had an incredible amount of fps. I was so discouraged from playing because my game never ran as smoothly as yours even though my computer specs are on the higher end. I was shook when I learned that wasn't the case at all, and all you guys do is speed up the video in post processing to make the fps seem higher. Now I feel encouraged to start my own series which is already in the works! :D

I've been sitting on this video for about 3 months and almost didn't release it. Hope it was helpful or entertaining, or both!

Definitely useful! I use around 1000-1500 assets in many of my cities and was looking for a way to optimise! Great vid!

I think your trick with lowering the LOD distance for trees and then using the Tree LOD Fix mod to increase the LOD resolution is a huge game-changer. Thanks!

Came here as 3x speed stopped having an effect...but after watching....I'm actually quite proud of how well my 8yr old (bargin price) laptop is holding up. I've got 125k+ population. Cpl mods (less than 20) and still can run at 30-40 fps on 2x speed, 3x just acts same ad 2x now, but from seeing this vid at 70kish pop running that slow on x1...I actuality felt a little better .

Cheers for tips, going to try implementing the new things learnt from ya n fingers crossed I can push this ickle laptop a little further.

Thanks for vid.

P.s I'm accepting donations to help upgrade! Wonder what pop I could achieve with a decent modern PC!

Cities: Skylines: use fewer trees
OpenTTD: Build More Trees!!!

It is maybe a basic suggestion the one about using "collections" to get an order on the overall mods/subscriptions but I'll try it in my next project. It's actually a nightmare to go through these endless lists. Thank you for sharing these tips!

“Let me know if it was, don’t let me know if it wasn’t.” Lol

Good video tho, I’ve been using the tree cluster technique and they look pretty realistic and definitely save on some FPS...it’s a win-win for me!

"Loading screen mod" is an absolute must! It saves quite a lot of memory just by installing and activating it. Also, it comes with valuable reports on assets: which ones are missing, which ones are not used in your current city, which ones are huge, ...

Every CS youtuber who making vid about how to improve fps should put "PARADOX need to release CS2 with better engine" at the end of their vid, since it is the best way to improve game fps/performance.

Yes! There are mods to remove street props, or shiny shops doodads, those gain fps, and also help with clarity of the streets to setup lanes and arrows. another mod removes decoration sprites in the fields like grass and rocks, the game looks better without. Also if you have a map you want to play, but it's too heavy in assets required and has too much trees, open it in editor, remove all that applies, re-connect the bridges, use the trees you want, save it and play it, the gain is HUGE.

knew alot of this, but the tree mod and using the LOD mod to LOWER the specs are both things I picked up. Awesome stuff man, thanks for the tips. Love your videos. Be well.

I find that making sure you have use the laws of Lane Mathematics works well if you have loads of traffic (good to watch some of Biffa’s videos for that). It helps the game AI to choose where and how to lane switch a bit easier, which causes sim speed to tank, and avoids massive tail backs. Works well in conjunction with TMPE

This was so helpful!!!! I'm trying to find a clever way to build a Sydney inspired city without killing my PC

Awesome! It was really needed, for example I never thought of using the ULOD to improve the performance, and mesh info mod was just what I was looking for, I might change the vanilla trees with others.
Pres's video was nice, but some of the mods he said remove are essential mods.
