Here are several reasons you should cook bacon in the oven.
It’s easy, You lay the bacon on a baking sheet and it’s pretty much hands off. You only need to watch it at the end of it’s cooking time. You don’t really need to turn over the bacon at all.
The bacon turns out flat and crispy as it cooks in its own grease.
The bacon is evenly cooked. No more raw areas and over cooked areas.
The best reason is there is no greasy mess, which I will show you how to avoid the mess below.

Here are the tools you need to cook bacon in the oven.

Rimmed baking sheet lined with aluminum foil
Parchment paper to cover the bacon on the sheet
Tongs

You do not need to preheat the oven.

Place the bacon slices in a single layer on top of the foil lined pan. Try not to have the bacon slices touch each other as they will stick together.

Place a piece of parchment paper over the top of the bacon. This will stop any grease splatter that will try to occur and you will have no mess.

Place the pan in the oven at 350 degrees F. Sometimes I play with the temperature, especially when you are first trying this out. I will start at 350 degrees F. and maybe raise the temperature to 375 degrees F. if cooking is progressing slowly. Remember, oven temperatures vary.

How long to cook the bacon, you ask? That will partly depend on how thick your bacon is. The bacon I used in this video was on the thicker side. I checked it at 15 minutes and found that it ended up needing another 15 minutes of cooking time.

I’ve cooked thin bacon with this method and it took 20 minutes at 350 degrees F. Just play with it.

Once the bacon is done, remove it from the oven carefully. Remember that you have a baking sheet full of hot grease. Keep it level.

Remove the parchment paper with tongs. It will be full of dripping grease so carefully deposit it in the garbage. Using tongs place the bacon slices onto a paper towel covered plate to drain. Pat with more paper towels if needed.

Enjoy your evenly cooked, flat crispy bacon with eggs, pancakes, burgers sandwiches, etc.

You will especially enjoy the easy clean up. Just let the baking pan cool until the bacon grease solidifies and roll up the foil and place it in the garbage can. The baking sheet will likely still be greasy but nothing compared to not having that foil in place. Give it a light wash and call it a day!

Bacon grease always goes in a container and stored in the fridge. I never waste it. Wonderful seasoning.

Hello! I also just found this video-2 years after it appeared! What a GREAT tip! I eat bacon almost every day on the ketogenic way of eating, and was tired of the mess it made. I can’t wait to try this-AND-what a great way to keep the bacon grease for cooking.
Thank you! So glad I found you.

Thanks for the recipe.
My wife has had some health problems and I had to retire to take care of her. Which means after 46 years in the welding trade, I am now the cook in the house. Tried several different methods of cooking cornbread and happened upon yours.
This recipe
It tastes great and does not stick to the bottom of my iron skillet.
At the end of your video, you mixed it with pinto beans. Try this one, take a large single portion bowl, add some large butterbeans (no juice), then some fried potatoes cooked with onions, then crumble up some of that delicious cornbread. Now, add some more butterbeans (with juice) and stir to get everything wet with the butterbean juice and enjoy.
Thanks again, for sharing your recipe!!!

👍 Hi Robin. I realize this video is over 2 years old, but I just discovered it last week and I can't thank you enough!
I've loved bacon all my life but the only cooking method I knew was the frying pan on the stove. As a result, I very seldom cooked bacon because I dreaded that horrible cleanup, not to mention the burns on my hands from grease splatter: It happened at least once per session no matter how careful I was.
I never liked the taste of microwaved bacon, and a few other methods I found on YouTube just
didn't seem believable. I wondered if cooking bacon in the oven wouldn't just splatter up my oven and
oven door?
For my research I watched your video and around 6 others.Yours was the ONLY ONE that mentioned to cover the bacon with parchment paper.
I tried your method for Easter Breakfast last week. It was fantastic. I'll never fry bacon again! And letting the fat cool on the paper before clearing it away was another great tip. Thank You/Merci/Muchas Gracias!

Never thought about letting the hot grease congeal before rolling up the foil for disposal...appreciate that tip so much! And, yes, bacon cooked this way is very crisp and flavorful. Thanks SO much for this and all your great recipes and cooking methods and tips!

THANK YOU🎉🎉🎉🎉 I used to turn the bacon over and over in the oven at 400 degrees. After seeing this I’m so excited to have the hands off freedom. lol, my parchment paper went on the bottom. Now this new tip to cover is great.

I have cooked bacon in the oven couple of times and didn't care for the grease being all over the oven. I did use parchment paper on top of sheet pan, never thought about doing it this way. I definitely will try this in the morning. And thank you for making this video it truly is a big help.

I am a southerner. We just don’t throw away bacon grease. It is so full of flavor and makes everything you cook in it taste so much better. I know it’s not great for your heart or your arteries so don’t do it that often but you don’t eat chocolate cake that often either do you? Anytime you cook greens, add a tablespoon of bacon grease. Bacon is the most flavorful of all the meats. Don’t throw any of it away— like someone else said, the grease is liquid gold. I have been using a rack and it is a pain to clean. I’m going to try not using a rack, but I’m not going to add any parchment paper either. Get a widemouth pint canning jar to store it in the refrigerator.

This worked perfectly. I am so pleased to find your method.
Forgot the turning-over part but it was fine.
Used a 1" plus rimmed baking pan with parchment paper under and over, and saved the beautiful bacon fat as drippings to use later.
Many, many thanks ❤💕
