I love that the comment that prompted the opening joke actually happened and wasn't made up for the purpose of it. Great on the spot improvisation.

As someone who does not live in the US… I appreciate the accessibility we have. I can watch this show the moment it “airs”. Something I wasn’t able to in the past.

The best comics are able to laugh at themselves as much as they laugh at others.

You nailed it, Jon. Fact that you're also on the internet only means that you're not limited to US TV, something I'm very grateful for 🙏

I may be getting old, but I feel like when Jon left the daily show and Colbert left the Colbert Report, there was just a vacuum of accurate commentary on current events. With John Oliver on Last Week Tonight and Jon Stewart back for one day a week (I wish it was every day, but I'll take what I can get), the world feels a little more normal (or at least, we have people pointing out just how not-normal everything is, which is cathartic).

😂 Thank you for posting the BTS that created his opening joke-- I was wondering what that was about! Hilarious. Stewart has a skilled way of defending his work, while also being self-deprecating. Glad to see him back in the hot seat

I think it’s more accurate to say cable is dying. That was a dominant force a decade ago but fizzled out as streaming became more common and the internet was made accessible.

I've watched all of my favourite TV shows on my computer since 2004. I got a telly for a present in 2014 and have watched it about 15 times since then, mainly FIFA World Cup matches. TV isn't dying, just evolving.

TV is still there. It is just that 90% of it has turned into late night community access cable.

I think, to clarify what the person might have meant, is that cable news specifically is dying, as all major networks outside of Fox news have had audiences shrinking greatly from year to year. I think the idea is that younger people do not necessarily trust these outlets and turn to social media as a result where they feel like the news they’re shown is less curated. A lot of independent journalists also use social media as an outlet for their stories due to not being affiliated with a network to get on tv.
