When you're 19 you have all the feelings, and less practice surviving them.
This too, shall pass.

I’m really glad John came back to the Daily Show. We really need his perspective to get through this.

The difference between hope and despair is a viable plan.

Jon Stewart handling an audience question like the genius that he is. There are very few public figures as quick witted.

This is why teaching real history is important; so people learn how to avoid getting to the point we got to now

I'm 72 and appreciate this man more than any news anchor. His humor, caring, and reality are refreshing.

I’m 44 and here are my life events: Reaganomics led my family to pb&j and canned ravioli for many meals; 90s - my dad went to the gulf war, came back a different man, which led to divorce; I turned 21 and 9/11 happened, then more war, many friends shipped off. Graduated college, met my hubby, bought a house and then recession. Had babies during the best presidency, felt very optimistic and then trump happened. I feel like life is very cyclical. You have highs and lows and you try to make the best out of what you have. Keep hope alive.

Oh, he answered that immediately with his posture. He turns mental pain into physical pain. You can relax it away afterward.
I really, really like his answer.

John Stewart is genuinely the only voice right now that makes me feel like I'm not going insane.

I'm older than Stewart, my friends were drafted/fought in the Vietnam war. At no time in my life have I worried about my country becoming a dictatorship until now. Jeannine

Difference between that 19 year old in the audience and 19 year old Jon is that back then there was no internet. You weren't being bombarded with politics and current events. People were focused on more practical aspects of life and living it at a slower, healthier pace. Now everyone's hyper informed to the point where they're always worried about everything.

Jon Stewart’s return to The Daily Show continues to be an enlightening and entertaining event. At age 65 I agree with Jon

As the saying goes, things don't get easier, we just get stronger. I am 43 and believe you me, things that knocked me down at 23 I know them down now. Every phase brings its challenges and strength to continue fighting is one of the rewards of overcoming the challenges.

I'm about to turn 62 and Jon is spot on. My son is 35 and bought a small home, is successful in the field in which he earned his degree, not married but would like to be and have children, but is seems more cynical than the people younger than him. I told him how proud I was he bought a house and he said "Mama, I'm might be the last one of my generation to get that opportunity and it's not right.". He sees things very clearly compared to where I was at his age. At least he's aware of those coming up behind him are going to have more roadblocks. I think it the information age that's has shaped many a young mind, for better or for worse.

Ill be honest Im 40 and I couldve asked that same question. Despair isnt solely restricted to the young.

I'll be 41 in November & when i say i feel like i was blessed to be born just in the nick of time, Old enough to kno what life was like before camera phones & social media & finished school just before it all took off.

Everyone my age & older would like to be back in our prime youths, but not in this particular time period. I do not envy kids & young adults today
