Long and strong, baby! When you do bicep curls, do you ALWAYS keep your biceps flexed? No, you let them lengthen, then you contract and shorten them.
Your core muscles should be able to do the same thing. You will find that your abdominals will get much stronger, feel more relaxed, and may even change how they look by lengthening the tissues.
These are 3 ways you can "release" the abdominals and obliques. There are many other ways to do it. You could follow these up with some strengthening exercises that look similar such as Oblique side bends on a Roman chair and abdominal situps using the same setup as the video.
Taking your core through that full range of motion may feel super intense at first and will likely yield a lot of soreness. That will go away if you continue practicing full ROM training.
You may find that your abdominals and obliques literally change the way they look if you lengthen them!
