Changing how the Corps works?

The Marines are testing out a new command and unit structure to integrate different teams together. What did they learn when they tested it in the field recently?

Sgt as Team Leader, SSG as Squad Leader and SFC, Sorry, Gunny as Platoon Sgt? No Way, what's next, making the rifle Squads slightly smaller (say... 9?) But adding 2 machine gun teams and 2 anti armor missile teams to the Platoon? Giving a light mortar Section to the Company? The Heavy Guns and TOW would have to consolidate, maybe task organizing as needed in smaller 4 Marine Squads... maybe call them Assault Platoons for the Weapons Company? You could leave the heavy mortars in Bn HSC, add a Scout Platoon amd a Medical Platoon and Signal Platoon (maybe a Sniper Squad for good measure) with them though...

What a joke; I'm laughing because it's better than crying. Thing 1: GySgts as plt sgts, what's even the purpose of Lts anymore at that point? Not to mention the pitch to the SNCOs, "o yea if you make it to 15 years maybe you get a plt" (not that it's their plt but you know what I mean). Thing 2: "a plt blocking off a major sea lane" lol, if you think a Chinese RCT is worried about a plt, hell even a battalion of Marines, go read MCDP 1 or 1-3 and learn how to fight.

Well the Americans have like 10 different sorts of sergeant ranks so.

So like the army they will make these ranks in one or two enlistments. So basically experience wise staff nco will be cpl and sgts

The USMC is too large. Marine forces are designed for (amphibious) raiding and specialized light infantry task. But the USMC is larger then most countries entire military. USMC even got his own freaking Air Force! The US Army’s 75th Ranger Regiment is more a marine unit then the USMC.
