Truer words were never spoken.
" Everything in this shop is dangerous." And be not mistaken everything in that shop is out to remove fingers hands and arms. And an occasional eye. I grew up in a welding shop, auto repair and now have a very well equipped machine shop of my own. I'm old now, and have been fortunate enough to still have all my fingers, and eyes a few scars to show for 55 years in and around all kinds of Dangerous equipment. I thank God for the opportunity and talent to have spent a lifetime making a living with Dangerous equipment. And for the people like Mr. Pete that have dedicated their lives to teaching a skill and defence from those machines that are out to get us.

Mister Pete, I just found you. My shop teacher was Mister Pete, Peter Peterson. I wasn't a good student (Girls). Mister Pete also taught drafting, I was poor at that as well. After High School I went straight to the military, early Viet Nam era. After the military I worked for IBM, GE and GM after just a few years I became unhappy, quit and became a General Contractor doing small remodel jobs at first that led to bigger and bigger projects like Apartment Complexes, Shopping Centers, Retail stores, Malls and Auto Dealerships as I got older I started Custom Design Homebuilding. Now retired I spend my days doing for me, mine and the animals on the farm. I do so enjoy making things, and making things work. I enjoyed watching some of your doings today. Signed A new Subscriber. Dr. D p.s. In all those years I got a little schooling on the side.

Nice job ! I once had a shop teacher back in the late 60’s that was missing his index finger on his right hand, when asked how it happened he said .... Son do as I say not as I do and I still have 4 good reason why I’m a teacher, well it use to be 5 ! And chuckled as he walk away ! I’m a new subscriber and so far like your ideas ! Thank you for molding young skulls full of mush into hopefully productive citizens !

Thank you for today's lesson. I am also retired and now enjoying all the old tools I have gotten over the years. I wish you had been my shop teacher.

Brilliant Mr. Pete! I've seen dozens of videos on building a stand/ fixture for portable bandsaws and this is by far the simplest and most practical of them all. I have a Milwaukee in my shop and use it frequently. Would love to see your take on a stand for the Black and Decker. Thanks for all your effort, your work is viewed by thousands and is well received by the metal working community. Merry Christmas!

Hello sir! My name is Blair. I am an aspiring bladesmith blacksmith. I've only been doing it just about a year now, however in that year I have accumulated a fair collection of tools and power tools. One thing I do not have is any band saw, be that vertical, horizontal, or handheld. So naturally I've spent the past month or so really trying to find the right saw to buy. Concentrating mostly on metal cutting saws, however I've read and been told that even wood cutting saws, be it through patients, can in fact cut metal. Anyway I'm saying all this to say that I almost fell out of my seat watching your video when you said that you got your portaband for a mere $25!!! Needless to say I've spent like I said, the better part of a month looking for the perfect price. Therefore I cannot contain my envy and jealousy when you said you got your portaband for $25! Anyway that's all I wanted to say, Enjoy your videos, keep up the great content!

I already have a commercial stand for my Milwaukee but I watched this entire video as I really love your presentation "style". I have watched approximately 300 of your videos so I still have to catch up. I even liked your vids when we only saw your hands!

Just came across this today wasn’t even searching for it. A coworker mentioned his friend made a self contained table mount for a portable bandsaw. Must be the technology spying on me. I think the vise mount is a better option for me because when not in use it’s taking up less space. Finally saw your Ark Encounter pictures now. Thanks again

I appreciate your videos. I am a retired machinist/toolmaker but I always pick up some good tips that I can use in my little hobby shop. Thanks again

A great addition to anyone's shop that doesn't have a vertical metal cutting bandsaw. I recently acquired a Powermatic 143 that needs to be rebuilt, until then the Porta band setup like this works.

I noticed that you just had to turn this into yet another vise video at about 21 minutes. Great! By the way, I was one of those who totally enjoyed the entire vise series. For those who chose to not partake of that particular feast, it's their loss.

If you keep maken' 'em, we'll keep watchen' 'em.Thank you.

Neat Mr. Pete. I wouldn't have thought it would be that easy. My 1 car garage requires portable.

I don’t usually comment, but wanted to say thank you to you Mr P for sharing your ideas. Very generous. America is wonderful!
Although maybe I do not make this, but to install portable tools on bench vise is a good idea. There is never enough room in the shop! Thanks!

I bought one of these new from Princess Auto (Canadian version of Harbour Freight) on sale for about $70.00 Canadian. I didn't have ready access to plate steel to make the table so I used 1/2" Baltic Birch plywood. Yes, you do have to use substantial pressure to make the cuts on thicker material, but it works GREAT! The only thing I would add is that the use of safety glasses in this case is second to the use of hearing protection. These are VERY loud saws!

Thanks for the videos Mr. Pete! I love watching them and have learned a great deal!
