Project Description:
********************
In just 4 hours, you can become a master of SMD soldering skill, but the condition is that you have the right tools and also some basic knowledge, such as knowing which soldering paste to use. I will explain both methods of applying soldering paste to the PCB with and without using an SMT stencil. You should know about the air flow speed and temperature of the SMD Rework Station. You should also know how to solder new SMD components and how to desolder and resolder old SMD components. Seriously, If you want to master the SMD soldering skill, you should also learn how to repair circuits with SMD components. So, in this video, I am going to explain a lot of things. So, without any further delay, let's get started!

You have a solder bridge on c57.
And so many solder balls on the board which can cause short circuit...
Your paste is dry try to mix it with little isopropyl and flux to get it better and get rid of those solder balls..
Always nice to watch soldering SMD its so much joy 😊

Thank you so much for putting this tutorial together! It was a brilliant and well-structured introduction to SMD soldering techniques. I'm sure that the tips and tricks that you included throughout the tutorial will definitely come in handy! I just set up my Octopart account and will be checking out the other references that you provided, in short order.

Mix old paste with new flux to rejuvinate dry solderpaste. A little tip i found on youtube.

Thanks for this! You make it look so easy! You must be a VERY patient person, because the placing of the components looks like it could be very frustrating.... I have done a lot of hand soldering (Soldering iron, and solder wire), but never with a heat and and paste. I have some very fine soldering on some projects coming up, and I need to improve my skills. This helps a lot!

Once you get good with the cheaper SMD rework station, a station in the $300-500 range is top-end for a hobbyist. The best, at $300, is the Quick 861DW. This is ALL you will need for hobbyist level work, is repairable unlike some of the cheaper ones, and will last likely a lifetime. I generally like Hakko or Weller stations, but they want $800-1000+ for a regular SMD rework station - and many Youtube repair personalities have said the Quick beats them. Even if you can't afford $300 - if you are happy with your station and feel you are doing good work, that's all that matters!

Very informative for a SMD beginner like me. I've spent decades working on point to point and through hole electronics. One thing you missed though was the importance of protecting heat sensitive parts from the hot air. Watching that poor electrolytic capacitor fry at 13:00 bothered me a lot. Lol.

i could see at the end of the video you are coming close to frying that capacitor, protecting it with aluminum tape would not hurt.

Do you have any advice for soldering SMD relays on to printed circuit boards? I have an audio analyzer which has a bad relay and I need to change the relay I can't access it with a soldering iron due to an RFI Shield right next to the relay but I can get in there with a hot air tool too hate the part up. My concern is not to overheat the part the relay I don't know how much heat it can withstand.

11:23 too much solder paste, consequently excess solder even touch up. Paste viscosity too low, excess flux

why is the solder stringy when I take the iron away from a header pin I'm soldering?

Conventional soldering won't help. We have to keep abreast with new techniques in soldering. I am an electronic hobbyist right from my school days. I am 73 now..I was rather confused and felt helpless on how to deal with SMD boards. I have to practice before I touch any SMD boards. I have bought the tools except a microscope. I bought a magnifying glass but it is not so useful. Thank you very much for your guidance.
