This episode is not meant to discourage you if you're starting a label. It's to inform you NOT to make the mistakes literally countless individuals with brands make.

In fact, if you let a video discourage you from starting your potential line, then you REALLY shouldn't start a brand.

You can do whatever you want in this world. Just be savvy enough to learn more about the thing you want to get into. That's the point.

Sick of everyone putting their lazy logo on a tee and calling it a fashion brand

Very good video, as someone who started with blank T-shirts, I can vouch for the stress of transitioning to cut and sew, but also the crazy satisfaction when you finish a piece you’re proud of

11 months too late but I am glad I watched this video. As someone who has aspired to be a fashion designer since childhood there is nothing that irks me more than all these celebrities and other people who just "making a label" out of thin air by buying a bunch of things and slapping their name on it. I spent most of my childhood (to my mothers annoyance) ripping up bed sheets and fabric scraps to see what I can make of it. I spend countless hours or even days in our basement drawing sketches of design, pattern drafting, cutting, and sewing until fashion school taught me the proper techniques to create line sheets, techical packages for manufacturers, market and competion analysis, PR packages and more. Having a good fashion label is not something that just anyone (celebrities included) can do. Something I am learning after all these years. It takes a lot of blood, sweat, and tears, TALENT, and to have a set of people (customers) who genuinely love and appreciate your work. There are so many designers out there that have never or will never reach fame for their work but have managed to create a successful label that they genuinely love. I think the thing that most people forget is that success doesn't mean fame and fortune for everyone. For me, if you have a roof over your head, food on the table, able to pay the bills comfortably without living paycheck to paycheck while doing what you love, you are successful.

my issue is that most ppl make a tee shirt line, call themselves "fashion designers" and horrible quality tees!!! to top it off they charge 50$+ & when yuh ask dem the mission statement behind their brand its "i just wanna be rich"

not only do you have a cool name you're also somewhat of a role model, I, for one definitely look up to you in terms of the insight and knowledge I perceive you to have. you seem like a really chill and intelligent guy! I've learned a lot about fashion in general from you and your channel having watched it for a good two years or so now. I appreciate you!

To be honest with you man, this video is encouraging as hell. Because this shows up everything that most people with this dream lack of, the business part. Myself included.
You basically just showed the blueprint of what you should study and pursue if your in this because of a creative process, you showed a path for those that really wanna go after their dreams, and honestly, I don't know when I'll start my own fashion brand but I won't let it fail because of bad planning.

Am I weird because the logistics is the thing I look forward to the most, having a reason to look suited and meeting people and having a valid reason to look professional honestly while I like designing but I’m quite excited for the logistics

I love this vid because it really shows what happens behind the scenes i wanted to start a brand in 6th grade im in highschool now and it took a 2 years to realize its not the design but the story behind the brand even after this video it encourages me to try harder actually design the clothing fabrics to make something better together. best video ever!!

Is it possible to start with cut and sew pieces? I have no interest in tees but it seems like I should do that first to build the brand, then use the revenue to start the statement pieces, but I want to start with that! Tees don't fit my brand so what do I do?

I started a brand called PrettyBoyUglyWorld, which randomly blew up because ASAP Ferg randomly followed me. At first it was mad, but slowly the reality sunk in that I need to look at quality, customer expectations etc. The whole project started by accident, but is slowly coming into place. I am looking at making actual clothing now such as cargos, and bags.

The story of the brand was pretty much about me being an office worker, and stuck all day in the office whilst looking outside my window and seeing the beautiful weather. This was how I came up with the first logo which pretty much has the nice side of the globe on the top, and the darkness below it.

Telling “story” has been difficult. I think as a brand that’s just beginning, we struggled to even know what that meant. But now that we have context for ourselves it’s been a little more clear.
