Imagine drowning and the life Guard starts filming a tutorial on how to save you💀

as a trained lifeguard, this is what we are trained to do but we use a tool called a rescue tube to aid in flotation. please do not ever attempt this before getting trained as videos like these can give you a false sense of confidence. the man in this video is obviously well trained and this is not a skill that a lay person can accomplish in their first ever rescue.

Lifeguard here, Please PLEASE remember, reach or throw don't go. If you attempt this without the proper training, you will likely end up drowning along with the original victim.
Instead, designate someone to call 911
Scream and call for help.
Find anything you can to reach out to them or throw to them that they can grab onto. This can include, a pool noddle, a broom or stick, a life jacket, or a emergency rescue flotation device.

If all this fails, wait until they become unconscious, and ONLY THEN go get them and immediately begin cpr starting with giving rescue breaths if you have a mask available. If you don't, continue chest compressions until the ambulance arives.
Again, PLEASE don't attempt to rescue a active victim with out proper training.

Stay safe! 🏊‍♀️

i’ve only recently learned how to stay afloat in deep waters on my own. my mom didn’t know that it was deep where i was at and came to me. when she finally noticed, she started panicking and grabbed me for support. i felt her weight and i panicked as well since i can’t seem to bring my body back up the surface.

at that moment i felt guilty because i didn’t know how to save a person from drowning. i was really scared that i was about to lose my mom (and myself). we were fortunate that my dad saw us and immediately rescued us.

You can also kick them if they grab ahold of your legs. An unconscious floating victim is far far easier to rescue than a conscious flailing victim

“GET OFF OF ME IM TRYING TO SAVE YOU” 😂😂

yeah just note that this is a training situation, sometimes people "death grip" when panicked, you would not get away so easy especially if the victim is a lot bigger than you

Lifeguard here, don't do that. What you do is 1) call an ambulance, 2) scream for help, 3) take anything that floats, damage property if necessary, and throw it to them. Do not go in the water. Even lifeguards that did months of training including under water judo prevent that at all costs, because a person in panic develops immense strength that is a threat to the life of both of you.

Yeah I remember one day our school took us to a water park and I was swimming with one of our friends, we were at the deeper end of the pool and suddenly he started drowning, he started pushing me down and I panicked so I did the same to him and I don’t know how but we both got to the edge of the pool by doing that 😂

When I was young at a pool my twin asked for help in the deep and of the pool so I jumped in thinking I can help and then I got pushed under the water and my twin was grabbing my head and pulling me down and I couldn’t breath and then my mom I think came in and took my twin out and I got out by myself. That was really close 🙏

You should of went in to more detail about things like DRSABC and jumping strait into the water is a bad idea and if anything your last resort. Reaching, throwing or rowing(using something like a board) would be safer and if you do decide to jump in bring a stick so you are a distance away from them before towing them to shore.

I had this moment, my friend push me down, I was thinking myself will also drowning at that time. luckily its not a big pool, so he can reach the edge, and both safe.

My mom taught me how to swim in a lake when I was only four.. it only took a few minutes. Then she walked back to the beach and I've been swimming ever since
