Right now I have to eat with distractions because I’m recovering from anorexia and need to watch tv so I don’t think about eating and decide to stop.

IE helped me recover from a lot of the food trauma I had from growing up in a super diet-focused household. I literally kept a huge bucket of candy on my counter all the time FOR YEARS. At first, yeah, I ate a lot of candy. But by keeping the bucket there and full all the time, eventually the candy became no big deal. I'd have a piece every once in a while, but I didn't feel like I had to eat handfuls of it all the time. Eventually, just by having "forbidden" foods available all the time and not restricting access to those foods, the intense cravings went away. I'm still working at healing my relationship with food and managing my diet as a diabetic. The necessary restriction in my diet is hard to manage and has led to many, many binges and food spirals, but I keep trying. Thanks so much for your videos! They're always so validating and compassionate!!

Yes. I hate when people misuse it. Every time I hear about intuitive eating, mostly from men, it's always "eat whatever you want in huge portions so you can die of (insert weight related disease)". Super misused and misunderstood. Some women don't get it either.

The best time in my life when I had ideal body weight was when I felt completely free around my food choices. There were no forbidden foods, I could eat whatever I liked and so I never had crazy food binges or cravings. My mind and body just somehow were relaxed and in balance. I miss those days 😭

Eat whatever you want, within reason, but not insane portions.
Like, if I want pizza, have a slice or two.
Not a huge two foot diameter pizza.
Yes, they make pizza two feet around.

Always love seeing you in my feed Adam! You always show up right when I need motivation and empathy.
I hope this lovely woman continues to improve her relationship with food and reaching her goals!

Nicely said. It took a long time for me to try rebuilding my "relationship with food." And it really helped telling myself not to feel bad when i have a craving for "unhealthy" stuff. I just have to be conscious of adding more veg to my meals, and portion my treats to reasonable amounts lol.

How do you intuitively eat when you have ADHD? Half the time I can go so long without eating I start to feel faint and not notice, and then the other half I want snacks the time. Give me all the fun treats cuz my adhd isn't getting what it needs elsewhere, so let's fill it with cookies. It's really hard to know when I'm hungry or full, compared to distracted so I don't realize I'm hungry, and bored so I think I'm hungry.

This how I eat. I can't fast unless I really need to as it just messes with my hormones (PCOS and hypothyroidism) and body and have tons of muscles (I have more than most women and I am not even an athlete. Do exercise most days), so I listen to what my body wants as it is usually good at telling me when it's hungry. full and want food helps me and what food makes me feel terrible. I grew up with always being told to watch the portion and serving sizes. So my doctor told to eat more proteins and less carbs (not to get rid of carbs completely, just eat more proteins and fibers). Balanced meals and listening to your body is really the only way to go long term. Nothing is completely off limits as that makes you want it even more, just limit how much and how often you eat some foods and won't feel guilty or binge. My rewards are getting new clothing or buying books, music or series/movies as food is fuel.

The only foods I completely limit are foods I am allergic or have intolerance to (I can't have dairy. I am allergic to it). It was hard when I found out that was what was making me sick and had to make a lot of changes by force; but it got easier overtime and found plant based options for a lot of it.

She has an ed she said she had a binge ed so intuitive eating is a good choice for her than dieting

Literally everything she ate was a sugar(or turns into sugar). Not enough meat on sandwich to even mention.

Um
Don't eat that. Thinking about what goes in your body starts at the grocery store. Don't buy that bread. Glucose spike in a bag. Don't buy that processed meat. Heart failure and artery swelling in plastic packaging.
Don't buy chips
Empty calories that actually make you want to eat more.
If it isn't in your home, you won't want to eat it.
The lettuce and tomato are a good start as long as you pair it with meat you cooked.
You'll be full.
You won't want to eat again for a while.
You will limit the glucose spike that causes insulin resistance.

Doritos are completely fine? You don’t mention anything about preservatives, how harmful ultra processed foods are, and how this is not sustainable with the amount of carbs she’s eating which will only make her hungrier an hour later. All I see is one overweight “fitness coach” giving bad advice to good people.

Sorry, i cannot believe you don't have *any* notes about the choice of Doritos - they are so effing evil, ya know why? I temped (admin) for their parent company: they are DOUBLE FRIED 🤬 That's why they're so dang 'irresistible' but why eating them is so so so so BAD. And that's before you talk about all the extra additives (artificial flavor, preservatives, manufactured citric acid...). Tell her to try some Pop Chips or something else a least a skosh bit healthier. She can still survive without eating Doritos ever again cus they will be the reason she never achieves her true goals if she keeps consuming them!

As somebody who's lost 93 pounds I just find this hilarious. I definitely still eat chips but I would never eat Doritos but that's not my body. That's her so good for her. I guess I don't know lol this is why I don't turn online fitness people to lose weight.
