My mom always had cucumber salad in the frig all summer, she just kept adding to the bowl! We lived on a farm in WA state but mom was from Arkansas. Watching you cook and listening to you talk while doing it brings back so many memories of my mother. I am so thankful for you and your wonderful videos.

My family likes the sweet red onions in cucumber salad. Makes it colorful. My mother was diabetic and loved cucumber, red onions, & tomatoes so I had to tweak all my recipes accordingly. I use Rice wine vinegar because it's sweet, very mild and less acidic than regular distilled vinegar and In place of sugar I use Splenda Momma always said how much she appreciated me adjusting all my recipes so she could eat the same thing as we did. When we would have apple pie, I made her a sugar free apple pie. And when we had banana pudding, I used sugar free everything! And it really wasn't too bad. But ain't that what it's all about anyhow? Catering to, and takin care of her needs the way she once did for us. Anybody fortunate to have their momma still with them, be sure and give her a big hug and tell her how much you love her, because Jesus may call her home before you see the next sunrise 🙏

This is the channel I’ve been looking for all my life. My mom and grandma both died before I got out of college and took an interest in cooking, taking all those good Southern country cooking secrets to the grave with them. Except when invited to eat with friends who actually know how to cook the old way (few and far between), I never got to enjoy these flavors. Now I can learn to cook myself. Thank you so much!!!!

I'm from North West Alabama and we Love this summer salad as well. We also put diced tomatoes from the garden in ours. But this looks sssoooo delicious. YOU ARE THE BESTIST COOK GIRL!!!!

I love it. I use red onion in mine. I like shoestring beet salad like that too
